I did check, after a day of not finding anything I called tech support, they wanted me to wipe out my comp and restore. CRAZY!! I just need a driver, if I had a restore disk I could restore the driver. After a few yrs, i lost it.

Generally the cd dvd drives don't need any drivers they use the ones that come with windows. have you checked toshiba for drivers?

  • Ekse Feb 16, 2009

just looking at my own computer, I have a TSSTcorp cddvdw sh-s203d.

The driver is from microsoft so it came with the windows and theres no driver to install.

I could try fixing this for you? what does remote support sound like?

maybe I can get it to install, have you tried installing drivers for it manually?

how about a live chat session(its around 20usd or more)? well we would just use remote support there in any case.

The drivers to the dvd rom on my HP notebook is ether corrupted or missing, where can i get them for free?

Go to hp.com. There will be all drivers for your machine. Code 39 usually means drivers not loaded due to hardware failure.

My DVD rom drive is not working I cannot "see" it on the system I have this error message "windowns cannot load the device driver for this hardware. the driver can be corrupted or m missing error code 29...

Check in device manager. To do this. 1st right click my computer, 2nd Click properties, 3rd click hardware, 4th click Device manager, 5th check that the computer is seeing the DVD/CD-ROM drives by double clicking the DVD/CD-ROM drives words or click the + symbol next to DVD/CD-ROM drives, the drop down menu will list your device if it’s there. If a device is listed double click the device. If it says it’s working properly click driver in the top bar and uninstall, then re-boot, the system will re-load the driver on re-booting. If the driver was corrupt it will re-install it correctly.
If the system cannot find the driver on re-booting it's missing from the systems file, go to the Support Fujitsu site and download and install the driver. Its free all you have to do is put the laptop details in the appropriate boxes and all the drivers for that laptop will be listed.
From your description of the error message it’s no doubt a corrupt or missing driver.
Hope this helps.

I have problem with optical drive TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633A ATA Device,,in windows it says: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.

The fact you have Windows already installed on this machine should indicate that the D drive was working before unless this is a new hardware? If it used to work before, then something must have attacked the system and corrupted it (virus or other malware). If your system is clean it could be just a hard disk error. You can run chkdsk utility by right clicking on the C drive, properties, tools and error checking option. Good luck.

TSSTcorp CDW/DVD TS-L462D Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)

What windows is this?
Who is the maker of the laptop?
  • Turn the computer off, remove the DVD drive and restart.
  • look for the drive in device manager
Windows xp – Start button>run> type devmgmt.msc
Vista/Windows 7 – start button> in the search box type devmgmt.msc
  • Remove or un-install the cd/dvd drive
  • turn off the computer
  • Put the drive back in
  • Restart the computer
  • Install your driver or allow the driver to install
If it continues to fail then either replace the drive or look in the component's properties, click the drivers tab and delete these drivers from windows system32 folder. You will need the windows installation disk to restore these drivers.

Hi,
Download the latest driver from Acer site or phillips site.
Uninstall the device driver.
Reboot
Windows should detect new hardware and start the wizard. Point to your drver installation file and install the driver.

Toshiba satellite notebook dvd/cd player

Try to get an Windows XP or Vista CD.

Boot the computer with the cd on drive.

Be sure to select to boot from CD in setup(F2 key I think) or boot menu (F9 key I think)

If the computer boot from CD, probably you have a software problem, else your drive is damaged.

Good luck.

Hi, the error code that you have on the CD/DVD drive is a known issue from Microsoft. The error code means "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (code 39)".
Since you are using a Toshiba laptop; you can click on this link http://tinyurl.com/toshibadvd and click on the repair tool on the resolution. This is applicable on both Windows Xp and Vista and will delete the upper/lowerfilters on the registry.

In case that the error code still exist you need to manually delete the upper/lowerfilters under the registry by clicking on this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461/en-us . You need to go the "Run" screen then type in "regedit" and click OK or hit the enter key.

This will surely fix the error code that you have on the CD/DVD drive.

Thanks
