Eric, The ignitor is glowing and the heat tube goes on for about 3 min and then the heat tube shuts off but the dryer continues to spin, Is the thermostat, Kurt

On the front of your dryer panel, lower left, there is a little piece of plastic which is actually a cover that can be popped off to view the gas valve assembly. Remove this little plug and then turn on the dryer to a heat setting. Look into this hole and tell me if you see the ignitor glowing bright orange. If so...there will be a series of clicks...and then perhaps even ignition of the burner tube. Most likely it will go right out. Please describe to me what you see....

I do not think it is the thermostat as within a few miniutes, the burner wold come back on again once the thermostat reset. I am going with the gas valve safety coils. Replace these and you will be fine. If I can help further, I am here......

I have a gas dryer that when cycle begins it heats but after a while it stops heating and it takes too long for clothes to dry...Why is this happening?

I would check the the vent hose first. It might be clogged with lint or stopped up some other way or even crimped where the air won't flow. Turn on the dryer and go outside and be sure there is a good flow of air coming out of the vent. If there's not much air flow dis connect the hose and clean it out

I have a whirlpool Duet gas dryer, model ggw9200lw0. It will glow then heat up but switches off right away.

It sounds to me like your flame is not getting enough air. Make sure that ur screen is clean then clean your dryer vent. The easiest way to see if it is your dryer vent is to take the vent off the back of the dryer. If it runs good without it then you need to clean it. If the dryer heats up a couple times then wont heat up after that then you need to replace the coils

Kenmore Gas Clothes Dryer does not heat sufficiently

Ok, first and foremost, make sure your vent is clean and clear.
If the vent is clean and free of obstructions the most likely culprit is your gas valve coils. When they fail the typical symptom is heat at the beginning of the cycle and no heat about 20 minutes later.
If you can, post the complete model number from the dryer and I will give you step by step tear-down and replacement of parts instructions.

The problem is the dryer coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/gdryertroublevideo.html this will walk you thru checking them. They are inexpensive and easy to replace.

My dryer will not heat up

You don't wan't to mess with this. Its probably something small like a defective thermopile, but repairs around the gas valve should be done by a professional. The thermocouple and photocells are safeties.

If the glow bar is cycling off and on the glow bar works and the black box on the side of the vent are working, Either there is no gas to the dryer, doubltful but something to check or, You need a gas valve.

I would check for gas first, do you have other gas appliances? and all are functioning properly? Check the gas line and make sure someone hasnt accidently turned off the gas. If it is none of these you need a gas valve.

Go to repairclinic.com or partselect.com with your Sp Q model number, or the part number off the gas valve, it could be a five digit 58**** or 51***** number. Get you best price. Im guessing 80 to 100 Amercian

When replacing the gas valve, unplug the dryer first, turn off the gas, remove the front panel, two screws lower front panel, you will need a crescent wrench for gas line of side and a 5/16 nut driver remove wires. Now remove the orfice from the old gas valve and make sure you install it on the new valve. Is this a Natural Gas or LP Gas dryer?, If it is LP make sure you make the conversion to LP. Ask if you have more questions on this.

install gas valve, tighten gas line turn gas on check for leaks! with a bubble solution, start dryer and make sure dryer works properly.

best of luck

Steam comes out of dryer after cycle and door is opened

Probably has a restricted vent. Go outside with dryer running and check air coming out vent. Should be a good blast...not just a breath. Clean out the vent and make sure it's not kinked. If it vinyl or foil vent, replace it! Also make sure lint screen is cleaned everytime.
