The copier turns on but will not make copies. The LCD display says U 6. The list of symbols does not have a translation for this problem. Please help me fix this. Also how can I obtain a manual for this copier. Thank you.
It's always more helpful if you include the exact model number of the machine; however I believe this only applies to some of the older analog units: U6 means that the fuser is not locked in properly. If you're not sure where that is...inside front cover, brown handle on left hand side, held in (usually) by a blue lever on it's left.....give it a little shove, It was probably removed for a paper jam and never reseated properly. I can email you a manual. advise me the proper model number (for example FT4522). You can get my info here:

the HDD (make sure you
backup templates and address book if you use them.) To format HDD hold 0
and 8 while turning on the copier, when the machine comes ready key in
690 and hit start. It will then display "2 2", hit start again.
Wait for it to say please reboot the machine, turn it off and back on.
Hopefully this will work but if not, your HDD will need replacing.
yep! you mean the ip address of the copier? it is under general settings key operator mode here's how to do it: 1. set the machine to copy mode (ready to copy displayed on LCD) 2. press FUNCTION 3. press 1 4. press SET 5. press 9 6. press 000 (as a default key operator password) 7. press 1 and 9 ( 19 ) 8. the tcp/ip mode will display you may press clear to erase the current ip address; just press the number that corresponds to your desired ip address and asterisk (*) corresponds to dot ( . ); after you input the new ip address dont forget to press SET to save the settings press STOP TO EXIT that's it :)
That is the drum replacement light reset it by pressing these keys: Clear, then the far left key, then Clear again then far left again.
So C, far left, C, far left
If done quickly like within 4 secomds the display should go blank. If so then key in 24 as if you were making 24 copies.
Now press the print button.
Now key in 7 and hit print again.
You should now be getting flashing zero's
Turn the machine off then on and the light should be gone and the copier is ready to use.
You can reset your drum life at least once with no problems.
you are absolutly right. It needs toner. That symbol is the universal symbol for toner. ( dont ask me how they came up with that but its true.)
The reason the copier runs on when you turn it off and on is because it thinks you may have added toner and is trying to auger toner out of the cartridge into the machine. After a time it gives up and assumes the cartridge is empty..
