Gas explosions coming out of Cozy wall heater

I have a cozy double sided wall heater model #LV W505E and sometimes when the heater is on and tries to ignite it doesn't right away and the gas builds up. Then it will catch and create a gas explosion which comes out of my heater and I see it in the house. Bright flame burst, loud bang and smell of burning dust afterwards. I have had the heater for 3.5 years and it has done it about 6 times since it has been installed. It happened once in the middle of the night and scared me to death. So now we don't have the heater on at night because I don't trust it. We had the gas company come out and look at it and they said nothing was wrong with it, but it still happens. I am afraid to turn my heater on or even stand near it for fear that will happen again. And every time the thermostat kicks on I sit and listen to make sure it ignites right away. It is very high maintenance and un-trustworthy. I am not sure why it is happening or what I can do about it.
Comments or suggestions? -Siri

It could be one of two things. Either you have a weak gas valve or dirty burners. Either way you will need to get a technician out to check it in order to know for sure. Or if you have access to high air pressure you can try to clean your burners and see if that eleviates the problem. But you saod it has done it since new. I am leaning towards a weak/ or stuck diaphram in the gas valve.

Cozy gas wall heater won't ignite, pilot light is on

There are two types of igniters, spark-type or glow heater. The glow heaters wear out and crack or break and the spark-type spark gap gets fouled or dirty. Both could have electronics problems that drive the glow heater or spark systems. The Filtrete thermostat is not the issue. While rapping the unit makes the glow igniter come back together to glow again.

Have problem with w355 f cozy wall heater won't turn on with pilot light working. Sometimes if I bang on the valves control it will lite up.

need to clean out pilot orifice, unscrew the silver tubing from the pilot and a 1 inch long orifice will fall out, clean by either blowing air or a clean out bit, if there is just a small amount of dirt or debris that comes from the gas this will reduce the amount of voltage to the valve.

There isn't much to these things, its either the pilot generator or the gas valve. Or maybe both, try the first, then the second.
