Question about Sharp VL-E600U 8mm Analog Camcorder

1 Answer

Need to copy/transfer 8mm camcorder tapes or fix broken Camcorder

I have a Sharp camcorder model VL-E600U. I went to insert the AC adapter into the battery compartment, and the little white plastic piece that holds it in place broke off. Without provocation. I am so upset because I cannot now place back all my daughter's baby and toddler tapes, and she is begging to see them (she is only 9 years old!). I contacted Sharp, and they are a waste of time. I will never buy from them again. I asked them,a nd have searched everywehre on the Net that I can think of to see if there is some VHS or DVD adapter that I can buy. I can't afford to spend much, and can definitely not afford to have all these tapes professionally trasnferred. Is there an adapter, or was there, made fro this purpose? Is there something I can buy to fix it myself? And is there something I can buy to transfer these tapes to either DVD (preferably not VHS), or my pc?

THANK YOU in advance.

Thank you Abrsvcs. The piece that broke off is gone. But you can see the half of it that is still attached and where it should be.

There is no adapter available because the tape size is different than VHS. If yuo can post a picture of the part that is broken, I may be able to locate one. I have a number of scrap units that I can part out. Please also indicate where you aer located in the country.

Thanks,
Dan

How do I connect my sharp camcorder model VL-E650U to my Samsung tv series 6 630 lcd tv to view the 8mm videos on my TV screen?

You will have to use AV cables and an adapter. The adapter looks like a scart cable connector, it is that shape , and it has 3 inputs
one red one white and one yellow. It should fit in a spare scart socket on the tv and the cables should attach to the camcorder.
Just program the video to a particular channel, you may have to consult your owners documentation to discover how this is done. Go to the channel, insert the tape and press play.

if you do abit of searching your bound to find a websight with a converter of some kind, or you can also go to most large electronic retailers, and by a converter

1. You need a firewire cable to connect camcorder to the computer.
2. Use the CD that came with the camcorder to install drivers.
3. The computer will detect it when you power ON the camcorder.
4. Use Windows Vista MovieMaker (free) to transfer and "edit" video and/or create a DVD disc

I have a sharp camcorder model vl-e785u and I am needing to know if there is somehow to download my tapes to a computer to burn to a cd.

I don't know about downloading to a computer, but you can buy a VCR/DVD recorder for about $140, put the VHS-C cartridge in the adapter and transfer to a DVD, or plug your Camcorder into a DVD recorder (about $119) and copy. It couldn't hurt to check out some of the transfer services that could do a little editing and copying for a modest fee.
