Re: Forerunner 305 battery
Welcome to Fixya !
There are TONS of Li-ion cell and mobile phone batteries as well as those sold to the RC hobbiest. Your best bet its to reach the nearest radio store and try to find a 3.7V Li-ion, 750 mAH battery with these exact dimensions (or smaller) and you will be fine. >305 battery dimensions:? H 33.5mm x W 35.0mm x D 5.5mm
Any battery with these specs should fit perfectly into your device.

Yes, resetting the Forerunner 305 would be just like resetting the Edge 305. If you are still unable to locate satellites with the Forerunner 305, please go to the following page on the Forerunner 305 Main Menu > Settings > General > About Forerunner and reply with your software version and GPS version.
This is not a user-fixable problem as diagnosing a fault on a dead unit requires specialist tools. It may just be that the rechargeable battery has reached the end of it's life, but it's not an easy battery to find as it's unique to Garmin. Your unit has a one year warranty from new (proof of purchase required); if your unit is out of warranty then Garmin have a fixed price repair policy, currently US$79 for your model.

Use a tooth pick to put a VERY small amount of silicon around the entire seam. Put the two half's together and wrap tightly with electrical tape. Test the unit immediately to see if it powers on and off. If it does not open it back up and raise the small prongs that make the connection from the bottom half to the top half.
If any silicon squishes out the sides wipe with water and a rag.
Let the unit sit over night. In the morning remove the tape.
