Question about Panasonic PT-50LC14 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Where is the lamp housing unit & how do I remove it?

I have a replacement lamp with instructions, but the instructions start after the housing unit has been removed from the TV. The manual refers me to the replacement lamp instructions. So...I got the lower back panel off the TV, but nothing visible looks like the picture on the instructions. Is there a diagram available that would show me where the housing is located inside the TV?
Thanks!I have the replacement lamp, but no directions on how to replace it or reset the hour meter. I sure need both as I am getting the blue thing when I power on tv. Lamp # TY-LA 1000 for a PT -50LC14

The lamp is in the front of the TV. Pop off the gray cover, about the width of the screen, located just left of the power button. You will then see a bunch of warning labels on the left. Unscrew the one screw that is there and take that piece off. There's your lamp. Unscrew the screw on the right of the lamp and the lamp will slide out.

Power down the TV. Let it cool down for several minutes to avoid touching anything hot. There are many parts inside the TV that could be hot.

  • 2
Unplug the TV and all media devices attached to it. Let the TV sit again for several more minutes just to be safe. The lamp receptacle and other components could still be hot.

  • 3
Unscrew the back cover of your TV with a screwdriver. Have someone help if the cover is big. The lamp's housing unit on most TVs is located towards the bottom. Refer to your TV Owner's Manual for specific instructions.

  • 4
Unscrew the lamp's housing unit with your screwdriver. Take your time to avoid damaging the housing unit. You'll see the lamp once you open the housing unit.

  • 5
Use a soft cloth to unscrew the lamp out of the housing unit. There's a possibility the lamps- could still be hot. The cloth will help protect your hand.

  • 6
Screw the replacement lamp into the housing unit with the same soft cloth. The oils from your fingers could ruin a rear projection TV bulb.

  • 7
Reattach the lamp's housing unit and TV back cover. Make sure no wires are loose or get caught when screwing the back cover on.

  • 8
Attach all media devices like cable or satellite boxes. You should now be able to watch your TV with a brand new picture.
