Open up the document feeder and clean the scanner glass.

Only use soapy water or alcohol for cleaning

Black lines appear on documents faxed

Black lines generally mean a dirty glass plate. Clean the glass with a dry cloth and try again. If this doesn't work use something like a 'wet-wipe' and lots of elbow grease. The glass may look clean but it just takes a bit of dirt that you can't see to make the lines appear. This solution applies to all faxes/scanners.

Papers come out with black streeks on them from my sharp FO 4450

If everything is coming out with streaks, it's most likely your cleaning blade which is part of the drum cartridge. I've also seen this from 3rd party toner. Get Sharp toner for your Sharp fax if you don't have it already. If your black streaks are only on copies and sent faxes, this indicates that your scanner is dirty. It's located where you feed your paper in. Lift this part up and you'll see a strip of glass running front to back about 1/2 inch wide. Clean it and that will get rid of lines.

Black lines printing out on sent fax

If you make a copie and the lines are on the copie then the optics's are dirty, white out, ink or fourn oblrct on glass.

If you have clean the optics and the lines are still there then the C,C,D, needs to be replaces the part that reeds the documents.
more then what the fax is worth sorry.

Poor Print quality - black lines appear on page

If you see black lines on the drum, it is very likely that the drum unit is bad. Replace the drum unit and rest the drum counter. If you wait too long, you will cause toner build up in the fuser and will cost yourself several hundred dollars to get it replaced. More in labor than parts.

Use a soft cotton or very soft paper towel and wipe the excess toner from the drun. If there are lines worn in the surface of the drum, then replace it ASAP.
