Question about Philips 46PP9302 46" Rear Projection Television

Philips 46PP9302 projection TV - convergance issue (red)

My Philips 46PP9302 has an issue with its red convergance- it will not move left/right and is bowed.

I took out the board and replaced the two ICs and the problem is exactly the same- red convergance will not move left/right (it will move up down) blue convergance works fine.

I checked the fuse/resistors around the IC's also and they all had the same readings

Is there something mechanical wrong? does the convergance move parts around or is it all digital?

Should I take the board out again and just resolder everything- what one if the IC's controlls the red? so I can just check that chip.

Thats caused by failed convergence ICs. You can get the DPTV305-DPTV345 convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which also applies to your model. The kit contains the parts and the CD with instructions.

I have a Philips 46pp9302/17f picture is distrubed by waves of red and blue colours...I think it maybe the bulbs?

Go into the customer menu and find and select convergence with the Philips remote.

If it is out or skewed OR red or blue will not move in some direction it is a convergence circuit problem. Confirm this and I can tell you what parts are needed and a cost for them (Usually under 30 total)

Lots of people see this kind of trouble and think one of the picture tubes is the problem.

Let me know what you find and I will help.

I believe it is the convergence

you will need to replace both STK392-120 convergence ICs and roughly four of the 6.8 ohm 1watt resistors. You can get replacement parts at the following link with free installation instructions so you can do the repair yourself, most shops charge between 4 and 600 for the repair, which is actually easy and inexspensive to do yourself it does require basic soldering. heres the link.
