In order to resolve the issue, you need to have either the Printer Driver CD or the installation file that you can download from HP Website.(Make sure you download the full feature)

Delete the printer icon from Printers folder.
And Run the CD/Driver File.

Select the option of Add a device from the list.
And let the installation complete.

If the issue still persists, please post on it for further steps.

If you lost you installation CD of your hp psc 1215, you need to visit the hp website search the model of you product and download the driver.

I did it on my own. I just uninstalled the printer and reinstalled using the installation cd. Although the cd was old (from when I bought the printer and now I have vista) it works now. Good luck all.

there may be the problem in the usb driver in your pc to rectify

1)right click the my computer icon
2)click properties and then click hardware n go to device manager.
3)uninstall all usb ports and then scan for hardware changes
4)ur pc will detect your printer and ask for printer drivers
5)re load drivers and your pc will communicate with your printer
6)for reloding install the cd follow the instructions on the screen and click next
7)restart when the printer is loded.connect the wires and cords properly.

Please re-insert you're HP printer CD for the 1215.
Power off the printer by pressing the off/on button. (Do not remove the data cable or power cable from you're printer).
When the HP CD loads, un-install the printer software. After un-install, restart you're system & remove the HP CD. Click on the link below for HP.

Under Step 1, click the circle next to - Download drivers and software (and firmware). (Turn on you're printer).
Under Step 2, (and to the right of, For product). Type in PCS 1215 - Click, Start Detection
Follow on screen instructions & allow HP to scan you're system.
Allow HP to install the correct updated drivers & software for you're printer.
This may take some time but it is worth it. You're printer should work as intended when everything is finished.
