DOS ESC/P2 to windows printing converter

By Rogers - usenet poster

Hello!

I am using a DOS word processor under WinXP home and it works excellent.
The problem lays in printing the files out. All new printers are
"windows only" printer and run with USB port. (DOS programs use serial
or parallel port)
It would be nice to have an Epson-printer-code-converter that converts
from ESC/P2 to the windows printing system.
The printing problem should be pretty big, because it still gives
thousands of DOS word processor users. The ESC/P2 was under DOS a
widespread printercode that every of the old programs would have a
printer driver for.
Anybody knows of such a converter? Or does anybody knows a different
solution to the printing problem?

Thanks for your help!

Helmut

Which?

You're wrong. There are still printers (mostly laser printers) with
parallel port, but these are more expensive.

yes I know...
that's why I suggested *saving* the file.

then from Windows open the file and select "print"

Wordpad should probably do the trick

Would be to nice, but doesn't work. "Only-Windows-printers" will ignore
DOS-Commands and Printing codes like the Epson ESC/P2. The file is a
file of a DOS programm, not windows.
