It sounds as though you are sending in halftones not in std resolution. i have not seen a 510 in a long time and cannot remember the layout of the buttons. i think there is a resolution button. just press it until you see standard come up on the display.
Setting Ring Volume...
You can adjust the ring volume when our fax machine is idle. You can set a ring volume or press until the ring is off.
Press to adjust the volume level. Each press of the key will sound the ringer so you will know the volume of the ringer you are selecting. When done, simply stop pushing the buttons and it will be set until you choose to adjust it again.
click MENU-then click use the arrow keys down to go to "initial setup" AND CLICK ok THEN ARROW KEYS DOWN UNTIL YOU GET TO DATE/TIME and then you will be able to enter the year, month, day, click ok after each one is entered, and there you go, VERY EASY. GOOD LUCK
After I installed the print/fax/scanner drivers on my computer, Paint automatically configured itself to recognize the scanner. Other image programs I had to manually configure the TWAIN source before I could import from the scanner.
