Electrolux EL5020A VacuumCleaner - taking apart

We were given one of these vacuum cleaners and it
stoppen working completely. I suspect the electrical
cord and want to take it apart. There seem to be some
things holding it together besides all of the star head
screws that I've taken out. Is there a repair manual for them?
Thank you for any help you can provide.

There are more star screws than you think. Under the cover over both wheels there are two on one side and one at the rear of the other. Getting the covers over the wheels off is a task. They are only snapped in but getting them out is a fluster. Also under the brush assembly are several screws. This thing is secured better than a tank. Good luck..Took me an hour to figure out where all the screws were located...

These[ things] you talk about are called lock clips.with a little force and a small screwdriver they open be careful not to snap them, take your time as you move along; the lock clips will start to reveal themselves more openly again take your time ,after the casing is opened it should reveal the electrical cord.;before you start this procedure make sure the electrical cord is unpluged from the power supply hope this helps you.adrian

Took apart my electrolux 6500 sr. How do I get my fan shroud off to clean the blades? Thank you.

Oops. Don't. First blow it out with another canister vacuum or air hose. That's usually sufficient for removing dirt and dust. For dust/dirt in the motor, use a motor cleaning spray that can be picked up at most auto parts stores. One that evaporates quickly and doesn't leave a sticky residue. One's called Electric Motor Contact Cleaner by Gunk (http://www.gunk.com/CAT_NM1.asp). There are others.
Hobby shops may also have one available called Dynamite Magnum Force 2 Motor Spray.
It shouldn't be that dirty unless someone has been using generic "made to fit" Electrolux bags. Or if water or other liquid has been vacuumed, resulting in rust, etc.

Keep in mind that reassembling the vacuum is more difficult than taking it apart. If not done so correctly, various problems may result. While you have it apart, it would probably be a good idea to use pipe cleaners to clean out the tubes connectiong the "control valve assembly" to other parts of the vacuum. Also, unscrew the knob at the top of the "cva" to check for wear and breaks. Clean dust thoroughly from all interior parts.

You have a problem with the electrical switches. If you are comfortable with this, take apart and double check internal wiring to make sure nothing was frayed, or disconnected. Make sure it is unplugged. If you know how to operate a multimeter, you can use it to check continuity in each switch.

Brushroll in electrolux oxygen+ deluxe

Is the brush roll not working at all? Check the teeth at the sides of the brush roll by opening up the electric head. If it has completely been destroyed you may have to buy another new head for it. Separate brush rolls are difficult to obtain and work out more expensive sometimes than the electric heads themselves.
You may have to contact the Electrolux cust services in your own country. Check by Electrolux.com

Call your local Aerus Electrolux office. If there is a problem in the electrical system you should get that checked before you continue with the machine. As for the cord replacement- Any Aerus service dept. can do that for you. I say an Aerus office because should you let a non-Electrolux employee work on it you will void your warranty.

The easiest solution would be to call your local Aerus/ Electrolux representative, because the corporation doesnt publish diagrams.
