SOURCE: To my HP Pavilion Media Center A1430N, I lost ALL video signal
Hi:
One quick thing to check is to see if your Video card is fully seated down in the motherboard? Sometimes they can pop up a bit, and you lose your output.
If that doesnt help, you could remove your memory, one stick at a time, to see if that helps. This could be the cause if you added memory from the old computer.

You need to unmute the line-in and adjust its level as necessary. Usually you can just double click on the speaker icon in the system tray and the Line In is by default muted and it is on the far right column (depending on your setup). If it is not displayed, click on Options and Properties and put a check mark by Line-in so that it will display.

Problem solved. The loose cable and the headphone problem were unrelated. The cable was for a removable hard drive that I could buy and slide in hte case from the front. The headphone problem was a bad jack on some new Bose headphones.
How do I mark this solved?
