How often do you defragment your computer/ it should be done monthly.
If not defragged lately, do that first and we can go from there. Do not use computer while defragging.

Beep sound nothing screen

The amount / pattern of beeps you are getting generally determines the fault. My first guess would be memory, reseat your memory, video card and cables. If the problem persists and you have several memory modules, take them all out and insert them individually into different memory slots. and if the problem still persists reply with the amount / pattern of beeps you are hearing?

On button flashes yellow but wont turn on

unplug the power cable for 10secs. press the power button while its unplug to remove all the electricity in the cpu. connect the power cable and then press the button. if you hear a beeping sound when you turn on the cpu, you have a problem with the motherboard. if no beeping sound, check the 4 diagnostics lights at the back of the cpu, advtrbl5.jpgMemory modules are detected, but a memory failure has occurred.
  • If you have one memory module installed, reinstall it and restart the computer.
  • If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module, and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.
  • If available, install properly working memory of the same type into your computer.
  • If the problem persists, see "Contacting Dell" in your Owner's Manualfor instructions on obtaining technical assistance
advtrbl6.jpgA possible expansion card failure has occurred.
  1. Determine if a conflict exists by removing a card (not the video card) and then restarting the computer.
  2. If the problem persists, reinstall the card that you removed, remove a different card, and then restart the computer.
  3. Repeat this process for each card. If the computer starts normally, troubleshoot the last card removed from the computer for resource conflicts (see "Resolving Software and Hardware Incompatibilities" in the Owner's Manual).
  4. If the problem persists, see "Contacting Dell" in your Owner's Manualfor instructions on obtaining technical assistance.

  • If the computer has a video card, remove the card and reinstall it, and restart the computer.
  • If the problem still exists, install a video card that you know works and restart the computer.
  • If the problem persists or the computer has integrated video, see "Contacting Dell" in your Owner's Manual.

Inspiron 531s will not boot up, keeps beeping, saying it is in power save mode. How do I fix the problem

System Beep Codes The Inspiron™ 531 / 531s system can emit a series of beeps during start-up if the display cannot show errors or problems. These series of beeps, called beep codes, identify various problems. One possible beep code consists of repetitive three short beeps. This beep code indicates the computer encountered a possible system board failure.
The series of beeps has a 3-second delay before it repeats. The series and delays continually loop until you press the power button.
Code Description Suggested Remedy 1 BIOS ROM checksum in progress or failure System board failure; covers BIOS corruption or ROM error 2 No memory modules detected
  1. If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module, and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.
  2. If available, install a good memory module of the same type into the computer.
  3. If the problem persists, contact Dell.
3 Chipset error (North and Southbridge chipset, DMA/IMR/Timer Error for Intel® platform); chipset error System board failure. Power LED is blinking amber. Time-Of-Day Clock test failure Gate A20 failure Super I/O chip failure Keyboard controller test failure 4 RAM read/write failure
  1. Ensure no special memory module/memory connector placement requirements exist.
  2. Verify the memory modules you are installing are compatible with the computer.
  3. If the problem persists, contact Dell.
5 Real time clock failure. Possible battery failure or system board failure.
  1. Replace the battery.
  2. If the problem persists, contact Dell.

I've got a new hp m2727nf laserjet (3 weeks old), and an error message "ADF door is open" appears in the product display. I have turned off and unplugged the power several times, I've removed the adf and...

From HP's web-site:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=3377075&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=3377075&objectID=c01236058

Make sure that the ADF lid is closed.

Remove the ADF and reinstall it.

If the message persists, turn off the power by using the power switch, wait at least 30 seconds, and then turn on the power and wait for the product to initialize.

If the error persists, contact HP. See www.hp.com/support/LJM2727 or the support flyer that came in the product box.

  1. Clean cooling components that have become clogged with dust. If beeping persists, continue to the next step.
  2. Remove a memory module. If the PC stops beeping, the memory module may be bad, is the wrong type of memory for the motherboard, or was not fully seated/connected. Try reseating the memory into the socket to see if a connection was the problem, otherwise replace the module. Remove each memory module, replacing the one that was previously removed. Once all modules have been checked, if beeping persists, continue to the next step.
  3. If your computer has a graphics card, remove it. If the beep code changes or continues with the same beep pattern, the video card may still be good. reseat the video card into its socket and continue to the next step. If the beep code goes away, the video card may be bad. Try reseating the video card, making sure it is fully locked into the connector on the motherboard. If problems persist, replace the card.
  4. Remove a PCI card. If the beep code goes away, the card may be bad. Try reseating the card into its connector on the motherboard. If problems persist, replace the card. Remove each PCI card, replacing the one that was previously removed. Once all cards have been checked, if beeping persists, continue to the next step.
  5. Disconnect hard drives and CD/DVD drive cables (IDE/ATA) from the motherboard socket. If the beep code goes away, the cable or socket is probably bad. Look for bent pins inside the IDE socket on the motherboard and straighten any bent pins. Try reseating the cables into the connectors. If problems persist, the drive itself may be bad and may need to be replaced. Disconnect each drive cable, replacing the one that was previously disconnected, until all have been checked. Once all connections have been checked, if beeping persists, continue to the next step.
  6. At this point, the problem probably involves the motherboard or processor. Make sure any jumpers on the motherboard have not fallen off their pins and into the case. Make sure jumpers are set correctly.
