Toshiba e570 / audiovox maestro battery problem

PS: I was thinking the same thing. Probably buy a dell. I asked a shop
about battery replacement and they estimated the cost to $150 cdn. Too
much. Should get a new one!

Which is it? This isn't eBay! Although virtually identical, repair options are
different for the two brands. Audiovox has a one year warranty- you might
qualify for a free battery replacement.

Define "replaceable". User-replacable, no. It's replaced by an Audiovox
cell phone service center if it's a Maestro, or by Toshiba if it's a 570.

Probably not- Audiovox, at least, doesn't allow their usual "authorized
service centers" to touch the Maestro. They fix them at one designated
service center, at least in the US.

Now perhaps some third party outfits like those guys who do RAM upgrades
on PPCs can replace your battery, but since you're so close to the warranty
period I'd explore that route first. If they won't replace the battery, then I'd
buy a Dell, or try scoring a cheap Maestro on eBay since the cost of the
(proprietary) battery is probably prohibitive.

IIRC, the battery is a proprietary 3.4v, 1000mAh Li-ion cell. Not
something hanging on the wall at the Shack or FutureShop.

Sorry forgot to ask... Can someone tell me the battery specifications.
