Question about HP PhotoSmart C4180 All-in-One Color InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

HP Photosmart C4180 won't load photo paper

Have had printer for 3 years, but only ever used it for normal printing which has been ok. Now decided to print off some photos, but it won't 'take up' thick photo paper properly and when it eventually does it starts printing in the wrong place so that about about 4" of the photo has been chopped off at the top. Can't really afford to keep wasting expensive photo paper and ink like this!! Would be grateful if anyone has experience same and has a solution :)

Just resolved the problem myself. Not a great solution, but will have to do until I get a printer that doesn't have this problem. Seems that the rollers are unable to pick up shiny paper ... so ... I stuck some ordinary paper on the back with selotape - bit of a nuisance having to overlap that onto the photo paper, but as it is A4 I can slice the edges off with a craft knife. Had no probs at all picking up the paper now that the back has a bit of roughness to catch it - has nothing to do with thickness, which is what I thought the problem might have been in the first place (photo paper is 280 gsm/high gloss).

Thanks, I did clean the rollers but didn't make any difference.

Interestingly, I bought some slightly different photo paper - the one I had probs with was Kodak Ultra Premium 'High Gloss' - substituted it with Kodak Premium 'Gloss' - and no problems feeding that through at all. The difference in the end photo is negligible, so will switch to using that paper instead.

The photo paper does not grab in my hp photosmart c4180

Go to Control Panel, printer services or preferences. There is a quality tab there. I set it to Best. Then, I take a 1/4 inch stack of paper ad feather it to get some air in between the pages and it works fine. If the paper sits there for a while I have to take it out and feather a stack of it again, but that's all.

HP photosmart will not process printing, just puts out blank paper

Blocked print head nozzles
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent blocked print head nozzles. You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the print then a new print head is required.

I print out the photo with glossy photo papers and the prints become so grainy , even my photo was in very high pixels taking what should i do to print a good non grainy photo

Your printer software and the program you used to print the photo have settings to turn up the quality of the printer just for photos.
I suspect you just forgot to do that

PAPER JAM WITH NO PAPER

This may be caused by a dirty sensor. Disconnect power supply, open the printer and clean everything. You may use toilet paper. Be careful not to leave fragments of toilet paper inside the printer.

Not printing from computer to photo smart printer.

If the printer has full functionality with C4100 series driver, then keep the current driver.

If some of the functions is not working , then download updated drivers from HP website.

Incorrect Cartridge Print cartridge in right stall not supported?

I changed the cartridge and it now works. I resent this though because it had been merrily printing before it decided it would stop and I have had to waste a three quarters full cartridge! I just hope the new one does not go the same way

Printer Cartridges won't align C4180 printer

Printer keeps trying to perform an alignment after installing a new black ink cartridge fix:

1. Unplug USB
2. Turn printer off
3. Wait 10 seconds
4. Remove paper from paper tray so printer has no paper to print on
5. Turn printer on
6. Printer messages to insert paper in paper tray
7. Press and hold “Setup” and “ Cancel” buttons and press “OK”
8. Should be good until next black ink cartridge change.
