Can dust build up on a picture tube's circuit board cause them to overheat and shut the tv down.

dust will not cause an issue like this in this type of set--RCA? it means a short of some type exists and the set shuts down or blanks the tubes--all you have described as far as appearance is normal.

RCA sets like this can be difficult to repair and also if you Google the model number you will see they have a lot of "problems".

Problem with a colour display on Hisense tv

If your picures are all purple it means that the green colour is missing. TV colour is made up by mixing Red, Green & Blue. Removing Green leaving Red & Blue makes purple. Study the green colour circuit for a fault and confirm that the green gun inside the tube is working.

Thomson Scenium 52''Rear Projection TV set -

you have a laser that has gone out blue or green take the face off and see which of the colors you need you can still find lasers on ebay if you need one but it will require someone with a little expertise to replace them. if this is not for you then its time for a new TV this is probably the best option its more expensive to fix in most cases than to replace..........I hope this helps

How to use 2 switches in back of Mitsubishi tube TV

With any color conventional tube TV, magnetic fields can cause problems with the color. You can have areas on the screen where the colors will be wrong (green faces on people, for example). A circuit in the TV does something called degaussing, which helps to eliminate any magnetic field on the tube face. With a big tube set like yours, that degaussing isn't always 100% effective. Those two switches add in some extra neutralization. You don't need to use them if you aren't having color issues.

If you don't use the switches, leave the direction switch in neutral. If you do have some discolored areas, try all 4 combinations of the switches (north and south, high and low strength) and use whichever setting gives the best result.

Sony kds-60a2000 has a green tint to picture

I have had the same problem for about 6 months, and never paid much attention to it. I also noticed that when trying to change the menu color, the colors do not show up correctly.

Now it seems to be getting worse, and so I started doing some research, starting with the Sony site. That is when I found out there is an extended warranty for the KDS series (50a2000, 55a2000, 60a2000, r60xbr2, and r70xbr2) TVs because of an optical block issue, until June 30, 2010, no matter when you bought the TV.

You can see the recall here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=277&mdl=KDS60A2000

It seems they are extending the warranty, but not doing a recall. In other words, they aren't telling anyone, but if you happen to find the information, they will replace the optical block, if necessary. The closest I could find to the green hue issue is a purple haze on the screen.

I don't know if this is the problem, but I have scheduled an appointment to have the optical block changed. I will repost after the optical block has been changed and inform whether this is the fix to the problem.

Either way, the optical block seems to be an issue and would get it replaced whether you need it or not.

Green bulb or tube

Let me know the symptom in detail.
Green bulb (CRT) gives high bright light and tv goes to standby? Do you see few horizontal (retrace) lines while this happens? If yes, you need to replace Green bulb (CRT) of your tv.
Please mention exact model number of tv to guide you further.
and what IC chip you replaced in tv?

Toshiba colours gone wrong

Yes it is repairable. One of two things is wrong. The color wheel is going bad or the DMD board is going bad. These are the most common repairs needed for a Toshiba. I hope this will help.
