Have a look at this site (video). There are a couple of options that you may have readily available as well as suggestions for some free software programs that should be able to unlock it...I haven't used them. GOOD LUCK :)

Re: Getting past a password of a used computer
Hi there :
you have a couple of options 1. have you tried the esc key . and if this does not work you will have to turn off the computer and remove the power cord and open the case after this is done look on the motherboard for a jumper that is usually black or blue it it covers 2 pins at a time it should be sitting on a single row of 3 pins with one of the pins uncovered if you look closly on the board it will say cmos setup on the board simply pull the jumper off the pins and slide it to cover the pin that was uncovered plus one more now power up the computer and you will come to the setup screen and you will see the section that says passwords click on it and it will ask you if you want to clear all passwords and say yes than save and exit now it will tell yo that you must return the jumper to the original position that it was in so simply turn off the computer and return the jumper to the original position and reboot now when the password screen comes up just press the esc key and the computer will go into windows so you can get to the user section and remove the previous user and put own user name and password in ok hope this helps best regards mike

Turn off the computer and unplug it. Allow the power to discharge.
Open the tower and look on the mother board. you should see a large watch battery. remove it for at least a minute to 5 minutes then replace it. close the tower and power back up. this should remove the password.
You will need a friend and his/her computer to help you with this. On their computer, download a program named " Windows Password Recovery Tool" to a CD. You will need to go into your BIOS to have your first boot item as the DC Rom for this to work. Place the CD in the drive, boot up, and follow instructions. This will erase your Admin password, and allow you to get into the computer. Afdter that you can select a new password, but would be a good idea to write it down this time. Good luck.
You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/http://126.96.36.199/
Try to resent password to your mail (find link around password input). When it come to your mail, use copy-paste to be sure that it is not some keyboard problem. Sometimes locales has different position for zy. Don't use special character in your password. When you going in account, change your password with new one. Because someone know your password too. Test computer for viruses (AVG is good free antivirus) because viruses can steal your passwords.

Hi, It seems to be BIOS password, if you don't remember or don't have the BIOS password you have to reset the password by opening your CPU cover and removing the CMOS coin battery, this will reset the BIOS password but dont forget to return back the battery and start using your PC.
Log back on and IMMEDIATELY go to password settings and change your password to your middle name or something easy to remember until you can think of something more secure. I think someone may be using it. go quickly.
When your computer starts up, push the right "F" button (for me it is F12) and navigate until you find the start up mode called "Safe Mode". You can't do much here but it can delete administrator passwords. Go to control panel and user options, click the user and click remove password. It should work, I just forget how to enter Safe Mode. It took me about 5 reboots to find it.
