It seems that Insignia products are manufactured by different companies, so narrowing a code down may be a bit of a task. There have be references to LG, Sansui, Mitsubishi, and several others when it comes to codes. However. you may still be able to do a code search using your DTV remote. Try this page for product codes and instructions to code search with your remote:\

Is the 42lh3000 TV compatible with the ht805sh home cinema system for getting TV sound through the speakers? i have it set up and works fine with DVD sound but i cant get the TV sound to come through it?

I looked at your two products and I'm not quite sure how you have it hooked up but, your TV has a total of 3 HDMI inputs and, a digital optical out, which means, that all your video componenets, DVD cable/sat, if you have, should be able to be connected directly to your TV. You can use the TV's menu to chosse what you want to watch. The TV also has a digital optical out, which you would connect to the digital optical in of the home theater. You would use one setting(sat, aux, whatever, depending on theater inputs), and when have "TV" selected in your menu, you should have sound through theater. You may have to turn volume down or mute for this to work. If you have any questions, let me know.

I just bought a Coby home theater system 5.1 surround sound dvd/cd/ player model#765. I've got it all hooked up but I have one problem, when I want to listen to my tv stations through the home theater...

Hi - Your Home Theater System and your TV should have separate volume controls. You should be able to control each individually. Start by checking the volume level on your TV with your HTS shut-off. Turn the volume on your TV all the way down to 0.

Next, turn your HTS on and check the volume level there. Is it still loud? If so, try turning the volume down on your HTS. That should do the trick. If its not loud then you know you can control the volume on either the HTS or the TV. If this answer does not help, then please write us back with a little more detail. Thanks.

I am going to take a stab at this one because it is interesting and hopefully it will help you. I see there are possible two issues to solve here. Lets do a test,
Connect the Samsung, using the HDMI cable DIRECTLY to the the HDTV. See what happens.
The reason I say this is because the Insignia Receiver is probably at least two years old. There have been several levels of HDMI Standard implemented in the last several years. That leads me to believe that he Samsung menu option signal may not be compatible with your receiver. To clarify this, take a look at the link below. It refers to the different HDMI Standards. 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4. When your receiver was introduced, I believe it complied with the 1.2 HDMI standard.
Hope this helps, Happy New Year, Mark

I need the remote codes for an Insignia home theater model # IS-HC040917. I would really appreciate some help w/ this issue.

Your universal remote control should have a scan feature that will allow you to find a code to control your receiver. If not, additional assistance might be found here.

This type of volume control is often called an encoder. Basically it is a control for an electronic volume control chip. Rather than a vairable resistor like the "old fashioned" volume controls, this one basically is a rotary on/off switch. As you turn it the internal fingers pass over copper bars causing quick on/off sequences. These are interpreted as vol up and vol down.

Realise that this is an over simplification, but is essentially how it works. Your unit is fine.
