Question about Dell Studio 17 Laptop

Dell Studio laptop won't power on

The computer was working in the morning and then it wouldn't power back on in the afternoon. I used another power adapter to check and it still won't power on. I held down the power key for 10 seconds....still nothing.

Are any of the led's showing that the charger is plugged in? Try few of these steps.

1: wiggle the cord slowly in different directions being patient for results-this tests for shorts in the cord

My burner won't burn in my dell Studio 1537

Inside the DVD drive is a laser optical eye. This eye get's dirty.

Suggest remove ALL power, then open DVD drive tray. Use a can of compressed air for computers to clean, and aim down towards the bottom of the tray.
(Remove AC adapter {Charger}, and Battery)

Disk cleaners have the tendency to wipe the 'gunk' off, then wipe it back on.

Also make sure you still have burner software. Nothing like going to use the DVD burner one day, only to find the Nero burner software was just a trial.

It's FREE, and NOT a trial.

Plus a DVD drive is mechanical. Wears out over time. Has a 'Life Cycle'.

Just an example. You may find a better price from another reputable dealer.

The DVD drive is held in with ONE screw,

I forgot my windows login password for a dell studio 1737 laptop

What OS are you having?

On XP you can try this:
Boot computer and press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice when you See Windows welcome screen / login screen. It'll show classic login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in username field and leave password field blank, press Enter and you should be able to login Windows.
Now you can reset windows password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".

On Win 7 or Vista:
Ctrl+Alt+Delete won't work, you have to use some windows password recovery software. I recommend Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 .

Go to Computer (or My Computer) and locate the disk drive probably below the Local Disk (C:). It is usually the one labelled drive D (D:/). Right click on it and select eject, This will eject it. Be sure to like my answer if it works, thank you :)

Dell studio 1535 not charging

Without testing the complete power circuit there is no way to know what needs replaced. the motherboard will most likely cost as much as a new laptop though. They are like the LCD screens. You can buy a new laptop for 4450 now days but to replace a motherboard or LCD screen you'll pay $500 to $700 not counting labor.

Sudden power off of Dell Studio 1558

Check the BIOS for PC Health settings. It is possible that you have put a low value for "Critical Temperature", which makes the Laptop to turn off.

Dell studio touch keys won't work. the eject button stays lit and none of the media keys above the keyboard work when this happens.

Shut down your computer, remove AC power, remove the battery for about a minute. Put the battery back in, hold the power button for 30 seconds. This should reset it.
