When I am on the internet my wirless connection will stay on sometimes and then other times go on and off. It is frustrating when you are in the middle of working online. I am in the same general area using my computer that I have been. Can someone help me???? Some computer guy said it could be a software issue? I don't know though?

You may have to upgrade your Router's Firmware - so will need to know what make & model is your router?
In the meantime here are one or two actions you can take:
1. Disable Windows Firewall
2. In Internet Options Control Panel go to the connection tab and then the LAN Settings where you can uncheck the "Automatically detect settings" button.
3. If you have any third party software, I would get rid of this and ensure that the"Windows Zero Configuration" in the Services menu is set to "Automatic" and the status is started.
Interestingly, Anti Virus programs sometimes interfere with wireless set up - you could see if it helps by disabling it whilst configuring your wireless. It might also be worth trying to connect without any encryption code & see if that will connect - you can then sort out the encryption.
Did you disable the wireless card through the BIOS? Sometimes the wireless card can be accidentally turned off through one of the HP Wireless Assistant which will keep it from turning Blue when you press it
To use wireless conection you need a Wireless Access Point i.e. wirless router. Then you can connect your laptop to this router and use internet. But if you have modem in your lap (generally all laps are coming with modem now) you should direct attach the phone line to your lap. In this case you need a dial-up no which you can ask your ISP.
