My sons been playing his X-Box 360 Blue Dragon game and is finally up to disc 3 of the game but when he tries to play it its reading 'unplayable disc'. The other two discs have been problem free and theres no visable faults on the disc, could it be some type of coding error?
I havent had this problem myself iv asked around and no1 else i know with game has it either. i think you have a dodgy batch game either go back to the shop and ask for another game or phone the helpline on the game and ask for a new disc. it could also be a corrupt save file if it dosent load but if your saying its in a cut scene cancel the cutscene ie dont watch it
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

The open tray and unplayable disc is because the lens isn't strong on the drive and needs to have a Pot calibration done to it to make the lens signal stronger. That should fix the open tray/unplayable disc issue. I have done this to quite a few drives and all have been working fine since.
There is a good chance you DVD drive might have either a faulty motor or laser. In this case if you have any type of warranty you should use it but if you don't you'll have to purchase either a new XBox 360 or a new DVD drive.
The new DVD drive will not be able play games if you simply swap the drives. In order to have it play games you'll have to flash the old Key from the broken drive onto the replacement drive.
Either that or if your system is still under the 3 year warranty from RROD by Microsoft you can try to induce RROD on your XBox 360 and take up a claim with them. Most of the time they send u a refurbrished XBox 360 or a new one.
Its laser burn. I have had this. Ask your son if he has tipped the xbox 360 with a game in it as that can cause this. If not the tabs that hold the game in place are broken causing the disc to 'wobble'. If you get the bottom right quadrant illuminate red then contact me personally at: firstname.lastname@example.org
The DVD rom is probably on its last legs. Call support and see what they can do for you. I don't think this is covered under the extended warranties, and it will probably cost you money to fix if its is out of warranty.
Mine did this to me and I am in the middle of trying to repair it myself.
My suggestion is put it in a enclosed cabinet so that it overheats and redrings so you can send it back.
some time your laser is a little wack but if you are haven trouble like that then send it to repair and youll get a new xbox so it works out for you.. or just buy the 29.99 warranty on your box and get a 350.00 new box in 2 weeks. i did that once wen i still had warranty on it so.
