Question about JVC XV-FA95 Multi-disc DVD Player

1 Answer

Quit playing D VDs

My JVC FA95 7 disc player worked great for years. I had only played DVDs in it, never used it for music. Wanting some music I played some cds in it. When I next went to play a DVD it would not read until after several attempts and turning the power on and off. It happenened again- no problem until I played a cd. Third time I had to unplug the unit, give it a light shake, plugged it in and it worked. this caveman technique worked 3 times and now, nothing. Any solutions/reprimands? I cannot find anything in the troubleshooting guide.

Try a music CD. Also, open up the unit and clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If the CDs play but DVDs do not even after the clening, the optics are failing and need to be replaced.

My JVC HR-XVC27U plays some DVDs but not others. They have the correct codes, but it seems to not play the newer DVDs like Toy Story 3

see the causes and remedies and fix it: God bless you
  1. No disc. - Load a disc into the tray.
  2. Disc has been loaded upside down. Place the disc with the label side up.
  3. Disc region code does not match region code of the player.
  4. Disc type is not the correct type to play.
  5. Disc is damaged or dirty. Clean the disc or try another.
  6. Moisture may be condensed inside the unit. Remove the disc and the leave the power on for one or two hours.

Hi, You can try testing the discs on a different player. The problem may be with a scratched disc or damaged disc. The player seems to be fine if it works with other discs. In any case, I have provided a link to the player's manual: http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/jvc/jvc_xv_n320b_xvn320b.html

I have a few purchased DVDs that will not play. Two have played one time. The message is "No Disk". Thanks. Suzanne

Try getting a lens cleaner and running it. I dont know why but sometimes when the lens is dirty they will get picky about what they will play. You would think that they would just quit! Anyway the lens cleaner should work. Also avoid touching the hold in the middle of the disc. That is where the drive hub that spins the disc goes. No spin no play. Try cleaning the holes on the discs that do not play. Good Luck!!

Disc error message when load DVD

Are you loading to play or to record?
Commercial DVDs should play.
DVDs for recording may not be recognized by your drive. First make sure that the disc is blank. You must insert a blank disc of the proper format: DVD-R or RW, DVD+R or RW. Even with the proper format, some brands may not behave the same way as other brands.

JVC XV-THA5R multi-region DVD player - fault recognising a disc in and playing

I too have this same problem on my current DVD player, AND strangely enough I had the same problem on my previous player.
Previous player was made multi region and was a Sony S660 (I think that was the model number).
My current DVD player is a Denon and was £550! It is also made multi region and has the same problems! I don't get it!
