Question about Sony CDX-M730 CD Player

1 Answer

Sony CDX M730 won't operate manually, remote doesn't work either

I bought this car with the stereo and last week ALL the buttons stopped working. It is stuck playing CD's and I can't adjust the volume, I can't adjust anything, it is like it is frozen. I tried reseting it and that didn't do anything except eject the CD.

Sony cdx-M8800 car stereo buttons wont work

There is a ribbon cable that runs all the flip panels electrics, these are prone to breakage.
I have seen some of the cables on e-bay for a few quid, and also if you google "sony x-pod ribbon cable" you will get a big choice of places to order, and get instructions on fitting.

Mp3 player or ipod connection

If you have a CD changer connected it is quite easy, if not I can't imagine a solution.
With a CD changer you need a cinch-Y-cable and a cinch-to-stereo jack adaptor. You connect these two to you ipod and the second port of the cinch-Y-cable to your CD changer.
Then you can burn a CD with no sound on it, but it must not be empty! You can use NERO Waveeditor to record "nothing" for the length of one CD and then burn this file.
If you play this CD in the CD changer and press the play button on your ipod you'll hear your itunes. If you play another CD in your CD changer while listening to your ipod you'll hear both sounds.

Have fun.

Faceplate not responding / acting very weirdly

Sounds like a bad connection with the faceplate and the multi connector that the faceplate mates with when closed. check for dirt and bent pins on both connectors. Luck
