Try this. can you see your mouse?

If so, right click on desktop, select " Arrange Icons" Then select, Show Icons. See if that does it. If not, get back to me.

Good luck

Windows wont work

Windows Vista and Windows 8.1 are two entirely separate operating systems; your computer may use one but not both concurrently and Windows Vista 8.1 does not exist. When opened, Vista does have a desktop as you have described. However, once Windows 8.1 is launched, a start menu consisting of application tiles will appear. In order to "activate" 8.1, you must first have it on your computer. So it would seem that your 8.1 installation failed and you still have Vista.

Wouldn't show video chats

Usually there are other chat software that are active on the background. Or other webcam application that is running on startup. Launch the System Configuration Utility (start>run>type msconfig > click ok). Go to startup tab and look for any application there that is related to chat or webcam application. Uncheck them all. Click apply then ok. System Configuration will ask you to to restart the computer. Click ok and viola! You should be able to launch any video chat application you want.

In skype it says your webcam is used beign other applications but it is not so nd i cant do video callin..model is aspire 4720 acer

Check the task manager for any application related to web cam like yahoo messenger or any other chat application. You will be able to find them in under process tab. Highlight the application then click on end process. This should allow you to launch Skype.
To disable the application you found launch system configuration utility by typing msconfig on the run command. Go to the Startup tab and uncheck the application. Click on apply and then restart. That should allow you to launch Skype whenever you want.

I am trying to copy photos from photo booth to the external hardrive and i cant error 36 always pops up

Launch Terminal (Applications > Utilities) and type the following command, making sure to include a space at the end:
dot_clean

Select the folder on your Mac that is giving you trouble and drag it right to the Terminal window. A green cursor with a + symbol should appear before you release the mouse.
The path to that folder should have automatically appeared at the end of the Terminal command. For example, it might look like:
dot_clean /Users/UserName/Desktop/Test_Folder

Press Enter/Return to run the command. It will appear as if nothing happened, but try copying that folder to your external HD (for example). Finder should magically allow it to be moved with no problem!
Repeat the entire process as needed for other folders that won't copy.

Desktop apears but with no icons, no start, or menu bar?

Are you running Windows? If you are, the easiest way to fix this problem is to simultaneously hit Ctrl, Shift, Esc. The Task Manager will then pop up. Click "File" > "New Task (Run...)." When the run dialog appears, type "explorer" and then hit Enter. This will force the explorer to launch My Documents (the default folder explorer launches), which, in turn, forces your desktop and taskbar to load.
Thank you for using FixYa!

How to put program type on tool bar

  1. Adding Icons to the Task Bar

    1. Click on the Start Menu to open it
    2. Click on "Programs" and find the program for which you want to create an icon
    3. Move your mouse pointer to the program you want to use
    4. Depress and hold down the right mouse button while you drag the icon to the Quick Launch toolbar section of the Task Bar
    5. When you release the right mouse button, a short menu will appear
    6. Choose "Create Shortcut(s) Here." An icon will be created in the Quick Launch toolbar on the Taskbar

  2. Deleting Icons from the Task Bar

    1. Move the mouse pointer to the icon you want to delete
    2. Right-click on the icon
    3. Choose "Delete" from the short menu that appears. The icon has been deleted, but the program is still available to you on your hard disk

NOTE: If you have carefully followed the steps above to add the icon to your Quick Launch toolbar, deleting it will NOT delete the program from your computer, it will simply remove the icon from your toolbar. The program will still be available to you.

Also you can "Drag" the program, to the bar, and "Drop" it on it. Check out a freeware application called StartupCPL at http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml. This places a Startup icon in your Control Panel which, when opened, lists all applications on your PC with a check box for each one. Simply put a check mark in each application you want to open minimized on startup. By the way, it states it is for Windows ME and 2000, but I have had it on XP for quite a while and it works fine.

At anytime, was MS Project Pro 2K3 installed? If so, has it been uninstalled?

Do you still have the media for this application?
