Question about Haier HTQ21JABWW Top Freezer Refrigerator
This fridge is 4 - 5 years old. I don't know the model number. The freezer is just an icebox at the top. In other words, this model only has ONE main door and the freezer is a small door inside. The metal floor of the freezer was pierced during defrosting. The hole is smaller than a large safety pin would make, but gas escaped for several minutes. Here's the question: I'd like to continue to use the fridge without the freezer. But I don't know if the coolant is separate for the freezer and the fridge, or if the coolant is one single system for both? I can't see where the coolant enters the freezer. Is it possible that although all the coolant is gone from the freezer that the fridge still has coolant? Is it safe to just plug the machine back in and see? Any concerns in doing so? Ideas? Thanks!
The compressor and Freon are all one sealed unit, never heard of a separated system. by turning it on you will just drain the rest of the freon.
