Question about Porter Cable 23GA Pin Nailer Kit

1 Answer

PIN100 leaves about a 1/8" of pin exposed every time.

Brand new Porter-Cable PIN100 purchased at Home Depot leaves a 1/8" of pin exposed every time. Pins came with the gun, even tried other P-C pins, and the compressor is set as per manual. Any ideas? Unfortunately it was a gift.

Thanks,

C. Stan

I have seen many Porter Cable pin nailers with a bent or broken driver. Easy to check. With breakdown in hand (http://images.toolpartsdirect.com/schematics/portercable/pin100.big.pdf) remove head nut and other parts to gain access to piston/driver. (parts # 60084) Most drivers have the tip missing or driver is bent. Replace as needed. If driver looks good replace driver into cylinder and push all the way down. The driver should extend about 1/8" past nose. Check for obstruction around lower bumper. Parts are not expensice and are available at WWW.toolpartsdirect.com. Please email if you have any questions. Good luck.

How do I replace the trigger valve assembly on a Porter Cable DA250C nail gun

There is one pin with a retaining o-ring that must be removed holding the trigger arm in - then there are 2 roll pins that must be driven out with a small punch that hold the trigger valve. Once the 2 pins are removed the trigger valve can be pulled straight out.
When you install the new trigger make sure the recesses in the trigger line up with the holes for the retaining pins.

Porter cable 15ga finish gun pin doesnt retract after firing

Porter cable uses a rubber band around the cylinder as check seal to push cylinder up. Pull cylinder and make sure that the band is place around series of holes in cylinder (about center of the cylinder ). If the band is in place then check for too much air leaking out of the nose due to worn/cracked bumper or lower bushing (washer with slot). If bumper and lower washer good, suspect debris in head vent preventing air form excaping or the shaft if the driver is bent (easy to check, driver should be easy to push back up from down position). Good luck

I have an fc350a nail gun. After firing one time, the piston will not retract until the air hose is removed from the gun.

May need a new firing valve or safety foot is sticking. Easy to check, Remove air supply, nails and remove the trigger to expose the firing pin. Connect air and place the nose of the gun against thick rubber or coiled air hose. Depress trigger and let go. Gun should fire and trigger pin will return to original position. If piston still does not retract then problem is with trigger valve and most likely the rest of the orings within the gun will need replacing. Not expensive. Remove the air supply and look closely at the firing pin, if it moves quite a bit from side to side and looks worn time to replace. If it look to be in good condition, then orings within trigger valve may be swollen and will not allow the trigger to function. You can remove the valve by removing the 3mm roll pins above the valve and applying air pressure to pop out the valve. Use heavy glove to catch the valve because it could come out with force (reduce air pressure to gun if possible). If gun works ok examine safety foot mech for problem. Use silicone paste lube on orings. good luck

Air escaping around trigger. What do i need to check?

There is an O ring seal at the trigger. You can take your old one to a larger hardware store and match it up. I do this at Ace hardwares, as they have bins of different sizes, and getting a replacement is easy. You might also try Lowe's, Home Depot, or similar.

BOSTITCH T31-1 stapler & T31-2 STAPLER and NAILER. Both use 18 gauge (very fine gauge wire). Try using 18 gauge Bostitch staples (used in BT model bostitch staplers). Good Luck

Can i use full round head 3-1/2 passlode nail in this nailer

The FC350A uses a 30- to 34-degree collated clipped head nail which is very similar to the Paslode 34-degree round head nail. Paslode's nails are unique because the round head nails collated very close together and the head of the nail is offset to the shaft unlike Porter Cable full round head are further apart and the head is centered on the nail. What does all this mean? The Paslode round head nail may work however the driver will deliver the blow off center to the shaft of the nail, This could cause the nail to bend as it enters hard wood and possibly jamb the gun. You should be able to exchange the nails (with small restock fee) at a major fastener store (not Lowes or etc. ) with out having purchased them at location because the Paslode nails are very popular and with todays economy the store will gain a new customer. If however you would like to try using the nails, try the following. Remove the head of the gun to expose the driver. Install the nails as usual and with **** of small hammer quickly and firmly push driver all the way down the cylinder to see if nail is easily pushed out of bottom of nose. (You can push driver back up with long thin screwdriver or allen) If successful, replace head and connect to air however lower pressure to 40-50 psi and nail into soft wood increassing the pressure little at a time with each test untill full pressure around 90-100psi. Good luck
