too hot to placehand on divider

I have the same problem - the divider between the fridge and freezer is extremely hot - to the point that it burns your hand to touch. We cleaned out the compressor area of dust, etc -- but after a week, nothing changed.

When was the last time the bottom, compressor section of the refrigerator was cleaned of accumulated dust?

The divider should be warm, and that it is too warm for you is subjective. A temperature reading is more analytic and would better help toward diagnosis.

When the center divider gets hot, it usually means that your condenser fan (the one that blows air across the coils under the fridge) is not working, or that the condenser coils are extremely dirty. Next time the fridge is running, see if there is any air blowing underneath. You probably need a new condenser fan.

This is normal. There is a heater in this panel to stop condensation sweating between the doors.

There are 2 or 3 things that would cause this. first make sure the condenser coils are not plugged with dust (vacumn or blow them out) next check to make sure the fan that cools these coils is running, (this is the most likely problem). if both of these check out ok then you would need to check to make sure your interior lights ar going off when the doors are closed as these will add extra heat and cause the center rails to run hot. last and most uncommon would be a freon system problem.

fyi there is a hot gas freon line that runs in between the doors to prevent exterior sweating. when poor or no air flow problems for the condenser coil exist it causes this area to become hotter.
One more thing. if you do determine that the condenser fan motor is bad you can put a normal house fan blowing on to the coil to help cool this area down until you can get the unit repaired.
If you need any further assistance leave me a comment here and I'll gladly get back to you. Thanks Peyton

SOURCE: Divider strip between fridge and freezer is hot

First take the grill off at the bottom under the doors look at the grate under the frig That is your condenser it will probably be covered in dust clean it off the see if you can fill air blowing under the frig there is a fan under there that keeps that coil cool and it runs around the door to keep condensation from build around the doors if no air is blowing take the back panel behind the Frig and there should be a fan running if the compressor is running this will also cause the compressor to over heat and will not cool as well but it might just need to be cleaned Good luck

generally this problem is caused by the evaporator fan not running, check the evaporator fan motor for blockage and or failure.

We moved our refrigerator and cleaned the coils and now the coils are extremely hot and so is the outside of the fridge on the freezer side and on the divider between the the fridge and freezer.

The can get pretty hot. However you should check to see if there is a moisture control switch on that unit. Change that to the other setting and see what that does.

Wall dividing fridge from freezer is very hot to the touch

You either have obstructed coils (lots o dust) under the fridge or the fan that is supposed to draw air across them has ceased to work. Check the coils and clean as necessary, and check the fan. Maybe you will get lucky and find something caught in it. If the fan is not working, leave the back cover off the fridge and put a small window or box fan back there until you can get the fan replaced. The fan will keep the fridge running for you in the meantime.

My frig is not cold enough

Maybe the room you store it in is to hot as the fridge will only cool a certain amount of degree's below the ambient temperature, if it has a freezer compartment make sure it is regulary deforsted as the fridge temperature is linked to the freezer temperature.

Frig not very cold & metal between freezer and frig gets hot

Poor cooling and a hot divider mean that air is not moving effectively over the condenser coils under the fridge. Check to see if the fan is blowing under there while the compressor is running. If not, then the condenser fan has failed and needs to be replaced. If it is, then use a vacuum with a long nozzle to give it a good cleaning under there.

Samsung side by side center divider front extremely hot

That sounds like you may have something in your condenser fan motor.. piece of bag, paper and may have stopped your fan altogther.. that would be the first place to check.. right by your compressor in the back of frig.
