Question about Canon PowerShot A720 IS Digital Camera
When taking a picture, the image is black.
Right next to your screen there is a disp. button. Try pushing that... Hopefully thats all that it is. good luck

Check your manual exposure. Either put the camera in auto mode, or reset your exposure to a smaller number.

Sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. You may be in luck. Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. Please check the following two links for more info:

Try this, it may or may not work. Insert the Video cable plug in and out of its slot a few times. The cable when inserted turns the screen off. But sometimes corrosion can build up on the internal plug switch, also causing the screen to turn off. Inserting and removing the cable a few times can sometimes knowck off this corrosion.
