Current version of software is 5.0 Download that as that may be your problem. You must download the newest version of WebUpdater from Garmin for free to your computer. Then:

your compatible Garmin device to your computer, then run WebUpdater from your
computer's "Start Menu" by selecting "Start",
"Programs", "Garmin", and finally "WebUpdater"

Does this help? Let us know. Thanks.
I did exactly the same thing!. This is how I fixed it. Use Updater.exe NOT WebUpdate. Download the latest firmware for your unit (the rgn file), then connect your nuvi via usb. Turn it on and hold the power button left, at the same time drag and drop the rgn file onto the Updater, exe. It will start automatically and reload the firmware over the corrupt one.
I have had this problem before and have always been able to get the unit to power on by pushing the reset button on the back.If you haven’t tried that, then need to get paper clip to push the reset. You may need to sync afterwards to reload your software.
Your problem is explained on following site: www.roaminggecko.com good luck.
Briefly it has something to do with shutting the unit off while it was
uploading software creating an error thus I think you will have to
reload your software, check this site for specifics list your problem
