Toshiba Satellite A45-S250 cooling fan not working
The fan had strange noise for some time and now it is quiet. But at the same time, a message pops up saying that the computer is hot and I need to take it to an expert, then it shuts out. Can I change the fan at home?

You will find the memory on the Toshiba A45-S250 under the keyboard. Snap of the grill that also has the on/off button on it, just above the keyboard. You will find two screws holding down the keyboard and another screw near the middle holding down a small silver piece that is holding down the center part of the keyboard. Lift the keyboard from the screen end toward you. Memory is located under a clear plastic flap. The power should be off and the battery removed during this operation. Be sure to touch some metal piece to ground yourself also. Good luck.
THe shutting down is your laptop's thermal protection. It is trying to keep the CPU from being destroyed. You should stop using it until you fix it, or you will destroy it.
The fans are not hard to replace and toshiba disassembly is fairly straight forward. Just get your #1 and #2 phillips head screw drivers and pay attention to how you take it apart.
Call Toshiba and order replacement fans for your laptop as they will not set you back very much.
