The tension dial is not working and the thread going through it is loose. The dial goes all the way up to 9 and is barely acceptable for general sewing but not for something I want to be done well. I did not notice why or when this happened and the machine probable has about 15 sewing hours on it since bought brand new.
janome 6600 the bobbin thread ins't locking and I can pull out all the stitching by pulling one thread... I cleaned the bobbin case, re-threaded both top and bottom.. changed the tention to no avail. HELP!
You need to do a tension assembly test.

Tension assembly test. To do this test. Pull the thread
through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working
correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or
something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the
tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It
should pull noticeably harder.)
If it doesn’t work this way then you probably have a piece
of thread or lint stuck inside the tension discs. To remove it, turn the
tension to 0 zero and raise the presser foot.Using a small screwdriver, open
the space between the discs and spray with canned or compressed air. The stuff
should come out. Do the tension test again to make sure you got everything and
then try sewing again. sewman7

Remove the top thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct,.
Set the upper thread tension to the midway point and then tweak it for your machine.
Usually, this occurs because the top thread is not fully seated in the tension disk.

Reset your top tension to the midway point and then tweak it.
sergers the most frustrating machines. Every time you change fabrics you go through a tension adjusting phase.
First make sure you have threaded the machine in the proper order. upper looper, lower looper, then needles from right to left. Always thread any machine while the presser foot lever is in the UP position.
If you ever break a thread... you MUST pull all threads and rethread using the proper order.
Ok that's out of the way. Pull all your threads and get out several pieces of the same fabric scrap. Thread each pathway with a different color. This will help you determine which thread is giving you fits. Sew a test strip. Which thread is loose? tighten/loosen that tension. Keep doing this until you have a well balance seam. Then clip the colored threads starting with the upper looper thread, tie off to your proper color for your seam pull the thread through and up through the throat plate. proceed in this manner with lower looper, right needle, left needle. Sew a test seam.
Hi
Direct from the Janome workbook E3 error relates to:
"Stepping motor for tension release (MC6500P & MC6600P only)"
Ensure there is no lint or thread trapped between the discs of the top tension unit.........try "flossing" where thread goes down thru tension unit with a scrap of clean fabric.
It may also be the mechanism that releases tension when the presser foot is raised....it is a sensor and may be out of alignment...not really an easy home fix.
Let me know how you get on, just remind me of the issue as I respond to many.

If your machine is binding. It sounds like you have a threading problem. Check your manual and rethread the machine. The A is for Automatic tension I would not change that. I would also notify your dealer and see if you have thread under the bobbin case. All sewing machines should be serviced each year.
