The expansion port is for a docking station. or a extender..

unlikely to turn the laptop into hdmi, well look into expansion docks and see what you find.

Most likely no.

How do I hook a an external monitor up to a hp dv6 1355 with a cracked screen?

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=4043282&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

Product information > Product specifications > Product specifications;

External Ports:
1 VGA (15-pin)

Manuals > Notebook Tour - Windows 7;

Left-side Components - External Monitor Port
Left/Rear side of laptop,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

You can use a CRT type of monitor (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor if it has a VGA cable.

(You can also use an HDTV if it has an HDMI port, and you have an HDMI cable. The HDMI port is on the Left side of the laptop, too.

{Don't buy an HDMI cable that is expensive. Just a waste of money.
Those gold plated parts are just a little bit better, than an HDMI cable that doesn't have it. $20 for an HDMI cable is PLENTY. (12 Feet) I use one's that cost less )

A) Laptop OFF, monitor (External display device) OFF.
Connect the VGA monitor to the VGA port, on the laptop.

Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type allow it to warm up.
Turn the laptop on.

There ARE at least 3 display options available;

1) Internal monitor ONLY
2) Internal monitor AND external display device (VGA monitor in this example)
3) External display device ONLY

Press, and hold the Fn key down, tap once on the F4 key.
(The F4 key is the Display Toggle-Over key)

Wait a few seconds.
Still no?
Hold the Fn key down again, and tap once more on the F4 key.

I have a mitsubishi 52525 and it has one hdmi port....how do i select the tv to use that port?

Hi:
On mitsubishi models something has to be connected to the port for it reconize that the port has a signal connected to it. Once a signal is connected the port will be highlighted in your ment, if not then you may have that port turned off or disabled in the menu. Also make sure the unit you are connecting is turned on so that a signal is inputed to the HDMI port.

I cannot get the Input 3 HDMI port to work. The Input 3 Componet videoworks, but when I unplug the componet video and put in HDMI port nothing works. I do have something else in the HDMI Input 1 port...

Hi.

To start ensure that each time you connect or disconnect the HDMI ports both TV and connected device are off.

Also ensure that HDMI input is active, as detailed here.

HDMI connectors carry voltage, and connecting the HDMI cable while TV or device is on may easily damage the HDMI port, making it unusable.

The HDMI 3 and Component 3 are separate input. The component input may work, and HDMI port may still be defective.

To test the port do the following:

Disconnect TV power cord, and connected device (eg. Receiver, DVD etc.).
Leave units disconnected for five minutes.

While power is disconnected, test connecting on port three a device that was previously working on HDMI 1. Also use a cable that you know is working.

Connect back power with HDMI cable already connected. If HDMI 3 is still not detected, then the port is defective.

In that case ring Pioneer at the number listed on the owners manual.This model is often advertised as only two HDMI inputs. Call Pioneer to ensure the third port can be enabled.

I have a quickdock.

You have a Gateway laptop, only HP and Compaq computers have Expansion Port 3 because that port is a registered trademark under HP which also owns Compaq so that is why. Sorry you should sell it though, if its new it runs around $60. Hope I Helped!
