We recently purchased a UMAX Astra 4000U and a 4000U Transparency Adapter. We want to scan dental x-rays. The platform is Windows 98, v. 4.10.1998, on a Pentium machine with 128 mb RAM.
The scanner will scan on the flatbed setting, but when it is set to transparency (UTA), the scanner does not scan, and an error message is generated: "00001500h". This happens either when VistaScan is activated through another program or when it is activated directly.
The transparency adapter is unlocked. Its power supply is connected and the connection to the base is secure. If I remove the glass and gently move the head, the unit will repark when it is reassembled and powered on. So it seems to be getting power. I never saw it light up, even if I lifted the lid during a scan attempt.
It seems that the transparency adapter is a dud. In fact, I just sent an email to UMAX support about this.
Did you ever figure out your problem? Did you get an answer from UMAX?
I have a 4000U with a transparency adapter. Can scan normally on reflective mode, but have the same problem with the UTA. Mine has worked in the past. Also have mine unlocked.
Would appreciate any help! Thanks.
Michael.
