Screen fades in and out, have to tap lcd or around keyboard

The screen on my dv 5000 is messing up, it just gets these lines in it and sometimes it goes black, but you can tap on the lcd or on the case around the keyboard and it will go back to normal but adjusting the angle of the screen also makes it mess up. is this problem in the video card or cable running to the lcd? how do i get to these parts?

It sounds that you may have a loose wire underneath. If your mechanically incline you can take of the front my going from the right side and lifting the top where the power button is and working it up starting from right to left. Then you should see 3 screws remove those and slide your keyboard up. There you should see your LCD connections, reseat those and if that doesnt solve your problem you would need to replace your LCD display.

Thin vertical blue ink bleed line from bottom of Malaprop screen - Fades over time

Hello,

Yes, it's a screen problem. It could be a loose connection of the LCD and the motherboard or the lid lights gone bad. You can fix that by either resetting the connection of the screen and the motherboard or replacing the whole screen. You would need a technician to do that.

My screen has a green line

Hi,

If you're screen has a green line, this can be an indication of either the LCD or the video card is failing. To confirm this, try changing the resolution or background image of your desktop screen, then see if the green line disappear. If it doesn't, then it is either the the LCD or the Video Card.

You will need the help of a professional to replace these parts.

Hope this helps.

I am getting lines on my laptop screen. the colored lines appeared all of a sudden and hiding half of my screen. pls help

Hi azmiug,

I see that you are getting colore lines on the screen hiding half of your LCD screen, Please see steps below.

*Turn your Laptop OFF.
*Once Turned OFF, Turned the Laptop back ON then keep on tapping F2 on your keyboard.
*By Tapping F2 on the keyboard this will bring you to the BIOS screen, once in the BIOS of your Laptop and the Colored Lines are still present then the problem is the LCD of your laptop and may reuire replacing.
*If the Colored Lines are not present then the Problem would possibly be the connection of the Video Card to the LCD or the Video Card itself.
*Reformatting Windows can be one of the steps to be done to find out if the issue Colored Lines will be fixed or not.

I hope that this will help you with your concern.

Have a nice day,

HP nx7000 display sometimes still or sometimes flickering horizontal lines then goes and says blank

It appears the video cable connector needs to be seated properly, it may be loose. The connector would be located near to bottom of the screen on the motherboard between the hinge and the top edge of the keyboard.
Depending upon the model of the laptop there is a plastic panel which houses push buttons and indicator lights that is located between the top edge of the keyboard and the bottom of the LCD screen. There are screws at the bottom of the laptop and possible screws on the back next to the hinge securing this panel. This panel would also have small plastic retaining clips locking it into place. You need a thin blade to lift this panel up, be careful not to crack the panel.
Once you remove this panel you see this video connector and cable. the connector may also be held in place with a screw and plate.

Laptop screen keeps going fuzzy!

The display connector contact on the motherboard is loose. If you can open the casing, you'll see a ribbon cable from the LCD part connecting to the motherboard. The connector is usually rectangular and connects downwards. Try pressing it in firmly.

I dropped my laptop and now the screen is messed up.

Ack. Sounds like you might need to replace your screen (sounds pricey but is cheaper than a new laptop). You can find second hand/refurbished screens or another Aspire with a working screen being sold for parts on Ebay or here

On a side note, if you a have a PC monitor lying around, you can access your files by hooking it up to your laptop via the dvi slot. Granted, it seems a bit ghetto but its a quick fix until you get something more permanent.

I recently broke my iPhone screen and completely shattered a dell laptop a few years ago. You know all those people who are adamant about you buying proper carrying/protective cases? Screw 'em.
