Plastic melted on burner- how to remove?

1) Accidently laid one of those heat resistant hot pads that are like rubber and it melded onto the burner surface
2) Accidently knocked a plastic vegetable container from the store on another burner and it melted on.
Anyone know if I can remove these melded on chemicals or do I have to buy a new top range?
Thank you!

Just allow all the plastics/rubber and burners to cool and then peel off any melted plastic/rubber. Wipe the burners with a mild cleaner like Formula 409.

You may get a little smoke and odor the next time you turn the burners on next time, or if you didn't remove all the plastic.

Reply back if you have any additional questions.

If you can break away the plastic then you will be fine, but never use a scraper on them. If all fails replace.

Burner says hot.. wont go off, moffat stove

Hello;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

I assume you have an electric oven.

You have a defective individual burner control.

1.) Pull your oven out so you can get behind it.
2.) Unplug your oven.
3.) Remove the upper back metal cover.
4.) At the top in the center is your main oven control board. On the left are two burner controls and on the right are two burner controls.
5.) Inspect the burner controls for burn marks or melted wires.
6.) Finding the bad control unit, pull the control nob off the front.
7.) Unscrew the burner control in the front.
8.) Remove the connectors on the burner control.
9.) With the burner control in hand. re-attach the upper metal back panel on your stove.
10.) Pug in the stove and push back in place.
11.) On the burner control that you just removed note the part number. Search on the internet for best price.
12.) Continue to use your oven without the burner control.
13.) Install the new burner control when received. Remember to un-plug.

How do I remove melted plastic from top stove burner, kitchen aid oven/stove, branch new

Clean the stove so all food residue is removed. Take a single blade razor blade and very slowly scrape the edges of the melted plastic. Blade should be held at a low angle, and only a small amount should be cut away at a time. It will take time, but the plastic will come off.

Once clean, use the manufacturer approved cleaner to clearn the area.

You may want to try to turn the burner on for about 10 seconds on high, and then off to help soften the plastic. Be careful to not burn yourself.

LEFT REAR BURNER GETS HOT WHEN OVEN IS ON

Look at this as an asset. The oven vents to that location. (gotta vent somewhere). You can use the heat to melt butter, keep something already cooked warm like the potatoes, dry pans after you've washed them... I like this feature!

On my glasstop a hot pad melted on it how can i get it off without scratching it

Hi, Ms. Stubblefied. I am sorry to learn about the heating pad melting on your range top. You can use cooktop cleaner to try to remove what you can from the top of the range. Then, using an oven mitt to cover your hand, turn the burn on very low, and use a scraper to gently remove the melted pad. Be sure to use care as the burner will be on. You may not want to do this if the scraper is plastic, as that may melt to the range top. If you do not want to do this, then you may need service. Here is a link you can use if you need service:

Glass top pebbled white, started with a small black stain, now grown to most of burner, have tried ceramabryte and special pads, cannot seem to remove. Almost like a film of plastic as you see the pebbles,...

Try some hydrocarbon solvent like acetone (on the glass only).

This may be a burned carbon. It can occur from a pan bottom that has a little grease.

Another possibility is using an aluminum pan. If that MIGHT be the cause, use a mix of electric dishwasher detergent and water. WEAR RUBBER gloves as it is very caustic.

Flames come out around bottom of burner. How to remove to check burner

Sounds like you have a burner that has come apart or rusted-thru. The buners twist about 1/4 turn counter-clockwise to be removed. Maytag made a special wrench to remove them but most of the time they can be removed by hand. If they're stubborn you can use a rubber "strap" wrench or one of those silicone "gripper" pads for removing stubborn jar lids. Just be careful not to break or damage the ignitor electrode on the side. There are rubber gasket rings under the burners that often are brittle, and broken. Don't worry about replacing those - they're not necessary and therefor are not available from Maytag anymore.

My oven won't heat

First you will need to verify if the igniter is coming on for the oven burner when the oven is turned on. You will need to remove the oven bottom cover. There is usually two screws at the back bottom of the oven compartment that holds the bottom on. If there are no screws then it should just lift out. You may need to slide the bottom away from you then lift from the back. You will need to remove the oven racks to make enough room to lif the bottom out. Once removed you should be able to see the burner(you may also need to remove a heat spreader on the burner). Now turn on the oven and watch for the hot surface igniter to start to glow. If it does then you will need to make sure the gas orfice and venturri for the burner are not plugged with debris. You can use a small can of compressed air to try and dislodge any debris. Then give the oven gas valve a light tap with a screwdriver or a wrench. Oven gas valve is usually located at the bottom of the oven. Remove the bottom storage compartment to reach it. If you tap it and the burner comes on there may have just been debris in the valve and you may have cleared it. Then turn the oven off and back on completely several times. If the burner comes back on you should be ok if it does not then it could be a weak hot surface igniter or a bad olven gas control valve. Now going back to the start if the igniter does not come on you will need to verify if the igniter is getting voltage. If it is then test the igniter with a ohm meter. The reading should usually be between 500 to 700 ohms. A common problem with hot surface igniters is that they will crack. Examine the igniter for any visible cracks. If the igniter is not getting voltage then you will need to verify that all wires are properly connected and none have come loose. Look for any melted wires from the self cleaning process. You may need to dis-assemble the back of the range to see if any wires have come loose or melted. Now I need to stress to you that safety is important. Be very careful performing these procedures. You can get shocked or possible burned.
