Question about Dryers

Noisy Kenmore electric dryer (series 70) - roars like airplane

The dryer works fine, but from the very start it was always very loud. The motor sounds makes a loud roaring noise, like a plane engine. When the door is closed in the laundry room we don't notice it much, but the noise travels out the exhaust and disturbs the neighbors. It's past warranty now (two years old). I've checked filter and such but am reluctant to take off the back unless I know it's the only way. The tech on the phone at Kenmore suggested raising it up from the floor with a playwood pad, but that didn't help.

You have a bad thermal fuse , usually caused by lint blockage from the filter or vent hose .

Kenmore dryer makes roaring oise when the drum turns

I have the same problem. I thought originally it was the seal around the drum but we pinpointed it to the fan motor. We think there is something wrapped around the fan motor or the bearings is going out.We would have to take everything out the drum and belt and motor to get to the problem. If you take the back panel off and take the lint trap off you can turn the fan and you can hear the loud noise. We tried spraying wd-40 around the fan pin but don't get any on the motor. It will burn it up if you do that. But it didn't work so you will have to take everything out.

Kenmore 70 series dryer shuts off and won't restart

IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THE MOTOR IS OVERHEATING AND SHUTTING ITSELF OFF. THAT IS ABOUT THE ONLY THING ON THE DRYER THAT WOULD SHUT IT OFF AND NOT ALLOW IT TO START AGAIN RIGHT AWAY, BUT LET IT START AFTER A WHILE. MAKE SURE THE MOTOR TURNS FREELY. IT SHOULD NOT DRAG OR HUMM WHEN TRYING TO START.

Roaring Sound During Operation of Dryer

Does the roaring sound occur after the machine warms up? If so, it could be a bad drum bearing. the heat from the dryer causes it to expand in its housing and, since it may been defective, could start "roaring". If so, The dryer drum shaft/bearing assembly will need to be replaced

If however, the roaring is immediate upon start up then u may have a bearing in your dryer motor. The entire motor may have to be replaced.
