Question about Toshiba Satellite L45-S7423 Notebook

1 Answer

Won't boot normally and clock goes back to 2007 when turned off

I removed the battery from my Toshiba Satellite L45-S7423 because it wouldn't turn on. I then put it back in. That fixed the problem but now when ever I turn it on It doesn't automaically boot and I have to press F1 or F2 to run set up. I have been pressing F1. The clock goes back to August 2007 and although I change it when I turn it off it goes back to 2007. I also haven't been able to update windows since then.

Your laptops BIOS battery is dead. I THINK on this model it is under the laptop battery, looks like a little watch battery. Get a new one and replace it. This is what lets the BIOS store it's settings.

While the system is starting up keep pressing F8 (function key 8). When you see a black screen with bunch of options select "Last Know Good Configuration". Let me know if that fixes the issue.

I have a Satellite L45-S7423 Toshiba Laptop the Vista Windows Passwords stopped working. Then after shutting down and powering back up the Bios password is no longer working. The password that I used in...

It's completely possible your CMOS (small BIOS battery) inside the laptop has died. If you are able to disassemble a laptop yourself, go here:

http:www.irisvista.com/tech/

You'll need to remove the CMOS and reassemble.

If not, try to find a friend who can help you download "Hiren's Boot CD" which has tools for resetiing BIOS and other Passwords. Be careful what you do. Study blogs about whatever steps you intend to take and be patient.

I HAVE A SATELLITE L45- S7423 AND IT WAS WORKING FINE AND WHEN I TURN IT BACK ON, IT TURN ON THE GREEN LIGHT BUT THE SCREEN WHEN BLACK.

Your can try to unplug and re-plug your screen connector. Turn over your laptop and look for a very small cap in the left corner. Take out that 1 little screw and look for the connector.
Hope this will solve your problem

How to install XP in toshiba Satellite L45-S7423 laptop

You can access Vista disk management (right click on computer from the Start Menu > Manage > Storage > Disk Management) and shrink your current partition and create a new one. Then install XP on that new partition. This is if you want a dual boot of both XP and Vista.
