All D.E. filters are basically the same. There are two plastic manifolds. One attaches to the bottom of tank by threads or bolts. The other plastic manifold goes on top, and ussually has small holes in this manifold for stainless rods to run through. All fabic looking materials(grids) run between bottom manifold, and top manifold. All grids must be washed free ofD.E.(diatomacus earth). Place bottom manifold on solid ground and begin plugging grids into large holes in manifold so they form a circle, this sometimes takes two people. Place top manifold on other end of grids in a simular fashion.Gently turn assembled filter to its side while holding together, and run ss rods through small
holes in bottom manifold, i n between grids , and through small holes in top manifold. Secure rods with ss washer and nuts, until snug but not overtightened.

How do I make sure I reassemble my Hayward sp0714t

Hi This is John the Hayward tech. I have attached a link to the manual for the 2244T. Not sure if you took the valve apart or have taken the valve off the filter and just need to put it back on. Let me know if the manual helps http://www.hayward-pool.com/pdf/manuals/ProSeries-S180T-S210T-S220T-S244T.pdf

Pump not taking prime. I have a lot of pine leaves or nettles some of which may have got past the strainer. after it took prime it did not seem to have good flow,.

This is indictive of a clogged impeller or blown shaft seal or possibly both.
To clean out the impeller, simply removing the 8 securing bolt that hold the wet end against the seal plate and motor housing. Then remove the diffuser assembley. You should now have access to the impeller. Remove any debris from inside the impeller and impeller cage.
Reassemble , fill with water, and try to reprime.
If prime still fails, take apart again and remove impeller to replace the shaft seal.
Note:
1. Make sure the filter connected to this pump is clean and not causing the problem before following these instructions.
2. Here is the link to the exploded parts diagram for easy reference to part names. It is also good to look at previous to dissassembley so that you have a good understanding of what is where.

THE PRESSURE ON MY FILTER KEEPS SPIKING. I TOOK

There may be a calcium build up on the fingers, and just cleaning them will not remove the calcium. I would disassemble filter again, then give the fingers an acid bath. Mix about 50 -50 muriatic acid and water and let elements sit in a bucket with the mixture for 15 or 20 minutes, then reassemble and see if this fixes problem. (the quick test is to let the pressure get real high, than add some acid to the skimmer and see if that lowers the pressure at all)

Hello my name is Israel and I will give you some advice. I had this problem with the same filter. It turned out to be the multiport valve. If you look at the diagram you have suggested you will noticed that even the manufacturer is now using a different valve. I think they finally noticed that they had a problem. I completely got away from a sand filter and went with a D-E filter system. It is a lot less troublesome and far superior to a sand filter. You might want to check on this. Even to replace the valve it is going to cost about $150. Good Luck.

Yes, you can do it yourself. Ther e is usually a grid smaller than the others. This is called a "partial grid". It is usually placed to the right of the input port on the manifold when looking doen on the upper manifold.. Getting the grids all together for a good fit is a real hassle, but if you don't. you will send DE into your pool..... Take your time...

Pump is running high keep shocking it, had algae, cleaned it out, back flushed several times, cannot figure out why it's still running high? (unsure of brand)

DE filter? If so then you need to give the filter an acid bath to purge the dead alge from the filter (Fingers, Grids or Discs). Go with 1part muriatic acid to 3 part water. Let soak overnight. The water should turn almost neon green.Rinse off and reassemble. SHould be Good to go. DE and Cartridge filters should be given an acid bath once a year.

Pool sand filter noisy only on filter setting and no pressure , but if you bypass the filter the noise goes away and there is pressure

Something is stopping your water flo before the filter otherwise you would show pressure on the filter guage. The only thing that I can think of would be if you had taken your backwash valve apart and reassembled it in the wrong position. Ether put the handle on backwards or mounted the top out of place. Hope this helps, good luck.
