Copy and paste this link into your internet browser for the service manual for your laptop. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/vos1510/en/SM/html/trouble.htm#wp1092170 The star icon (*) means flashing LED, the bold circle means on, the circle within a circle means off. The LED's that they are referring to are the NUM, CAPS and SCROLL. It appears that you have a problem with your LCD. Try connecting an external monitor to your laptop. If you get a display then your LCD display panel needs to be replaced. If no display then your motherboard needs to be replaced.
I would hook up an external monitor to see if the laptop is working. If it is working fine then you must have a connection problem where the LCD plugs into the motherboard. I am willing to bet it is the LCD cable mot seated correctly. If it does not work on an external monitor try switching the memory chips one at a time if you have 2. Everything you mention indicates it is booting but no video. Good Luck Phil
please do some activity to conform the problem in your laptop, veryfy while you are pressing the power button after some time, press the num lock or cap luck switch is it working means the light is blowing or not? are able to listen the windows start sound? then connect a external monitor and try to swict the vdo on it? if yes then it is the LCD problem and you need to change the LCD assembly. if no then try the following steps:
1: veryfy your adoptor light is glowing or not? if yes then go to next step, if no then replace the adoptor.
2: remove all the external connection, remove the battery from backsite. remove the power adoptor. press the power button for 2min. then connect the battery, adoptor and try... if no then follow below
3. then try to on the laptop by pressing fn+power on botton. try to refix the ram. is there any LED is glowing or not..........?if no then you need to change the mother board
hi.. Based on what you are stating, could be power supply problem. Try
replacing power supply adapter that Dell supplies. Go on Dell support
page using your computer number and you can see if there are any
manufacturers recall on the computer or the power supply...
If the Num lock is lit constant, and the Caps Lock and Scroll Lock keys are flashing, the system is reporting a memory error. Power off the system, remove the battery, and follow the user manual from support.dell.com to reseat the memory module(s). If the error persists, you may need to replace the memory and/or the system board of the portable.
Flashing - ON -Flashing indicates a problem with the LCD. Reseat the LCD cable connection to the motherboard, then see if the problem is resolved. If not, disconnect the LCD from the motherboard, and connect and external monitor, see if the system posts normally (You may need to toggle Fn +F8 for external video) if it posts, the LCD/LCD inverter is bad. If it doesn't, the motherboard is bad.
