If you are using Windows XP, click >Start>Control Panel>Sound, Speech and audio devices> again >Sound, Speech and audio devices> then check the "Device Volume" control. Also check the controls under "Advanced" button.

Hi. Today I bought a 3 foot audio y-cable and an RCA (Phono) Female to RCA (Phoneo) Female cable so that I could hook up these two speakers that I have that belong to a predisian sound system (boom box)...

All you need to do is get a USB based sound adapter 16/32BIT MINIMUM to plug your speakers straight into your laptop with better sound. Many laptops will have limited sound OUTPUT which places large limitations on pushing sound through your nice speakers. You already know the problem is not the speakers or new cables, therefore you know that problem has been isolated to your laptop. You may also check the volume settings in the laptop to ensure your running the highest possible BIT or volume enhacement software. Let me know if this does the trick for you.

Sound is too low

Go to START>Control Panel>Sound HQ/Sounds and Audio Devices or something similar. Make sure your speaker volume is up (Move the sliding tab to the right). And that your Speakers Volume is up(A tab on the bottom area of sounds, in advanced tabs, or properties. Slide the tab to the right for louder, left for quieter) and make sure your Mute button is UNCHECKED.

Have a good one :)

Lights are on in the small speakers but no sound is produced...there is a short scratchy sound when I juggle the speker wire from sub woofer. I hooked speakers up to a different MAC and now am trying to...

Hi there , the green light just means its getting Power, it doesnt mean that its going to give sound, It could be that you dont have Drivers installed for your Sound card which is causing it too not get sound , but when it makes that static noise , its the Wire just causing Static with the Sub , just means its getting power , The + and - sign is the volume control ...Try see if you can turn it louder with the + . maybe it is low enough not too hear.....Hope this helped Bud
Happy new year.

Why does my harmon/kardon speakers not playing louder ?

Perhaps, that is the loudest your speaker can make sound. Please check the volume of the speaker if it has been set to maximum.

Also, double click the speaker icon beside your computer's clock (system time) and try to see if the Master Volume is set to Maximum.

JBL Creature Speakers have very low volume

I had the same problem. Then I read about the volume controls on the right speaker. They are silver buttons for me on the front bottom left and right of the speaker. Now they play really loud!
