Hi

Try to run the Touch Screen Test(by going into Diagnostics) this will check that the touch screen is calibrated and accurate. If it still doesnt work then go to Initialize GPS this will Reset the unit and will reacquire the satellite signal.

Note: Previously saved satellite data will be reset and reacquiring the satellite signal may take 15 minutes or more.

Please revert for any clarifications.

A Fixya Rating would be appreciated if you found this solution helpful.

Thanks

    Did you dropped the unit?

The Magellan Maestro may have locked up due to a resource conflict.

    1. Simply reset the receiver by pressing the power button for 10 seconds.
    2. After the receiver powers off simply power it back on to complete the reset.

The location of reset button is on the left, right, or bottom side inside a small hole.

If the resetting the unit doesn't help then try and update its firmware from the link---

    Magellena GPS Firmware Update

From this link select the product family and then the model no. , it will display the firmware. Download the firmware and install it into your GPS Reciver. I am sure it will resolve the issue.

Else take out the battery for 10-15 min.s and then put the battery again. It will help.

Hi there. your touch screen needs to be recalibrate. there is a calibration tool on board. should be under the options.

i think you will have to train this unit to recognize your voice. this tool is under the option menu as well.

If the recalibration wont respond, i would remove the battery and let stand for 5 min. this will drain all power and reset the board. if the problem persist, you may have permanent damage due to extreme temperature exposure. (direct sunlight)

I'm thinking this Magellan road mate 360 was DOA. It seems to be defective. i would grab my receipt and head back to the retail store for exchange or replacement of this defective product.

My magellan roadmate has a small ding on screen. I will not respond to touch on certain screens. Can it be taken appart for repair?

yes it can, but youll have to get the lcd with the digitizer, because the are soldered on the the lcd and very difficult to replace.

you can buy a good used, but broken 1200 off ebay for under 20.00 normally, because the 1200 has a problem with the usb port becoming damaged or broken and ask the seller if the screen is good

here is a quik search of broken 1200 on 43e7187.gif

you can also by a new screen but its harly worth it, since yyou can buy a new 1200 for under 70.00

if you need further help, just reply to this post

Have you tried performing a soft reset by pressing the reset button on the back of the unit, then turning it on again?

How about a hard reset?

With the unit powered off, hold your finger on the upper right- hand corner of the touch screen and tap the power key. Continue to hold your finger on the screen until you get a warning message. Tap "OK" to reboot the GPS.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

When the unit is off, can you see a line where the screen is possibly cracked? look close. If you can your LCD is busted and it needs to be replaced. Is the sound working fine? Will respond after answers.

Megellan Roadmate 700, touch screen not working, if it works takes too long!

Mthomas, Although I can't think of any quick fix, if you have a cd of the software version that you've installed then try re-installing that. if nothing else, access the secret " " menu and reset user data, you'd be amazed at how much that can fix at times. At user menu (after reset) press "-" and repeat key at the same time. select "reset user data". If you can get it to the touch screen calibration test, then it could respond. (eventhough it's not working otherwise) Good Luck, DanEz007
