I have the same problem and have to shut down the computer completely. It is also real slow when I get on. I can expect to freeze up when I spam an email . It has been a problem for 2 months now and rather aggravating. I am sure that it is not good for the computer to be shut down like that either.

It seems that your OS has registry problem, so I would suggest you to fix it properly with the help of these tips given below:-
- start PC in safe mode, normally Pressing F8 key when windows starts up.
- In Safe Mode create a new user, with administrator privileges and protect it with password.
- Remove any Antivirus.
- Download Intel software Partner reliable program RegInOut to optimize your internet and fix OS registry properly
- Restart your PC normally and log on to the new account created.

What you can do is continue to sign out, but you may have to restart your computer too. This usually helps me when my computer freezes on me, and this usually solves the problem.

Why cant I open my Yahoo mail box? it freezes up , When I log on to my Yahoo mail it freezes up and at bottom of screen it says dowmloading blank

Same problem here! Waiting for a solution...

I'm running Windows XP SP1 on an AMD chip (BIOS is old, about 2004). No support package higher than SP1 will take even though the Intel registry is set to 4. Hotmail works fine. Neither Yahoo Mail nor my personal Yahoo account ( will show mail. They just give the current count of unopened mail, a white blank screen, then lockup (Ctrl-Alt-Del cures the lockup). All drivers are up-to-date with a driver program. All Windows updates are current, up to SP1. Yahoo Messenger is installed (but not used). Everything works except Yahoo Mail.

It take a long time to go from email to next email.

The reason why the yahoo mail hangs is that since your PC is new, many plugins would be missing like the Adobe Flash Player, Java Plugins etc which are required for most websites nowadays to display & run their scripts and advertisements.

If you click inbox while it still shows Yahoo Loading (toward the upper right of the screen) it will hang Internet Explorer and mail. Report problem to Yahoo Customer

So is there a solution?

There was a warning on Yahoo a while back about an issue with Firefox and Flash, I believe. Just as you went to Yahoo mail this warning popped up saying you had Firefox and Flash and you may have trouble with Yahoo mail.

Let's update the software(s) in question and that should clear things up.

First, update Firefox by going to "Help" at the top right of the menu bar. You should see something about updating there. Click it and follow the prompts.

Secondly, make sure your Flash is completely updated. Go to the Adobe Flash website (Click here...) and install the latest and greatest version. Make sure you're in Firefox when you do this!

If all else fails, use Internet Explorer or some other web browser to access Yahoo mail until everything shakes out. You'll probably get updates over time that will help this problem (if we don't fix it first).

Good luck! Remember to rate the solutions!

Unable to open mail

You could try going to your Tool Bar and choosing Internet Options. Then change whatever address is in your homepage box to and restart your computers. It may allow yahoo to work. good luck!
