Won't Load OS from DVD

Toshiba Satellite Laptop U305-S5077 Will not load OS ( Vista ) after somebody flashed bios with wrong update , trying to get it to load XP .
( I flashed it back to ver 3.10 and it does the same thing) It acts like it can't find the Hard drive, like there are no drivers for it. When you look in the Bios , it shows the proper HD there, but won't load up and work.
It starts to load the OS but then hangs and stops working, acts like a HD that has been wiped thoroughly, and needs to have the front part of the OS loaded from floppy disks, like I need Vista Boot Disks or something like that.
Do I need the original bios flash to make this thing Work?
