Re: how do i unlock the red ! boxes
You know when you enter the castle and see a rug, when a light is shining on it you look at where the light is coming from and you will be flying. Go to the center of the place and you will find the switch that activates red cap boxes.

If your looking for the Blue Tunic, you can find them one in one of two places. In Zora's Domain near the frozen waterfall, is a shop whose entrance is blocked by pinkish-red ice which can be melted with blue fire. You can buy the tunic inside the shop, but it is a little expensive. alternately you can simply use blue fire to melt the ice around King Zora who is also in Zora's Domain. Blue fire, as well as the Iron Boots can be found inside the ice caverns. These caverns are located in the same area where Lord Jabu-Jabu ( the giant fish you saved princess Ruto in as a kid) used to be. You can reach the caverns by crossing several floating sheets of ice.
Whoever told you you need a scart cable is wrong, The N64 is an old console therefore requires you to plug it in via a standard ariel port. You then should turn you N64 on and search for new channels using your TV menus to either automatically search for them or you can tune your tv manually. either way you will probably need to fine tune afterwards. In the first floor main hall of the castle, look straight up. You must be standing on the picture in the middle of the room. There will be a switch in the middle of the stage you just entered. Jump on it and all the red boxes will now be opened. You can now get the wing cap and fly around. Fly and get the red coins to get the star in this stage. To exit this stage, fall.
There are a few different colored blocks that turn solid when you find the button. You will find it as you progress through the game. It cannot be missed, when you get to the point you need it, you'll find it. Note that you will see the block outlines far before you can make them solid, just keep playing.
Wow, the classic Nintendo 64. That was my first gaming system. I do know that the 64 has default RCA cords (Red, Yellow, White). They are required to be inputed into your TV. Make sure the 64 is plugged into a power source and that it turns on. Make sure that your game actually works. Clean out your 64 by using a can of compressed air, do the same to your game.
Finally try to start it up.

64's as they get older and with most gaming consoles the connections get worn. The power supply is junk on those! It's a cube that has to fit just right into the slot to make a solid connection. Here's a possible solution.
1.Turn off your 64 and pull out the power supply cube blow on it and in the space where it was.
2.Take the game out blow on it.
3. When you put the game in push it down a little harder than normal "not very hard dont break it" but securing the connection this way.Do the same with the power supply.
when you have at least 14 stars a beam of light appears in the main foyer. as mario, press X and look up into that light and you appears in an area in the sky. there is a tower top in the middle fly down to it (if you enter as mario you have a wing cap) there is a big red switch with a ? on it groundpound the switch and all of the ? blocks become solid.
