Best bet would be to call a repairman.

One of the boards could be fried, power supply, bad bulb, etc.

Repairman, definately.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Always, blinking light indicate protective mode and indicates fault sensed by the built-in diagnostics. The sequence and count of the blinks would indicate probable area of fault or where to start.

Two ways to address the problem:

  • DIY (do-it-yourself) repair. This would require familiarity with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM and a soldering iron. It would be to your advantage to have access to a Service Manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage measurements;
  • seek the services of a qualified professional for a repair quotation.
While it would be possible to effect your own repairs, there would be the above mentioned pre-requisites; otherwise, it would be guess work and unfortunately may lead to false diagnosis/parts replacement. A quote on the other hand would cost depending on the going rate within your location. The advantage is that you would have an idea of the possible cost of parts and service fee. This would be significant since this information factored in with downtime, efforts to have the TV repair would present you an evaluation of your options or even consider replacing the unit entirely.

If you are comfortable with the DIY, pls post back. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Hi and welcome to Fixya,
If the indicator light is blinking but no display on the TV means there is not a power issue,Issue seems with some internal fuse or connector so it will be right to go for the repair but try first to refix all the things including settop box.
Then try with the menu if the menu is coming, the display assembly is fine but the issue is with other conectors.
Thanks

As the power indicator light blinking this indicates the problem in the tv.the exact fault can be located by the number of blinks you get.but any how if you r familiar with soldering iron and using multi meters you can can do this other wise its better to can a service person either then taking a risk.but if you r familiar with using meter and soldering just count the number of bliks you get at the front pannel of the tv and i provide you further reparing instructions.

In this unit it's likely the convergence amps are the cause. Those and possibly the 2.2ohm resistors (especially R7726) in the yoke return path -also check fuse..

Depends, try first unplugging tv power cord for five minutes.

Try first unplugging tv power cord for five minutes, this is called hard reset and will reset settings and get rid of minor hardware problems.

If that does not work, try leaving unplugged for longer, let say few hours, if TV still does not restart it is faulty.

The led blinking is a special diagnostic mode called protection, if the TV still stays on protection after unplugging power for few hours, and draining power from TV completely, then the TV is faulty.
In that case you will need a technician to fix the problem.

Commons problems on this set concerns power board and convergence board, and repair for those is about $200.

The blinking red light is a standby indicator. Make sure your remote is set to "tv" and not "cable" or "auxiliary".

Likely to be the STK convergence chips causing a protection circuit to switch the TV off. Have you got any onscreen convergence problems (i.e, colour fringes)?

My Toshiba Rear projection TV Has A blinking power light

The power supply is in protect mode. There is most likely a short on one of the boards, or the high voltage generator, or a scan amplifier, or the power supply itself has a failure. Without troubleshooting the set it is impossible to know.

Replace the convergence amps and check the return resistors in path to the yoke from that circuit.

Blinking red power indicator light

Pushing it back in place went it went out tells me that the problem is probably a poor solder connection. That arcing probably took out one of the fuses, but a fuse is NEVER the cause merely a symptom. I would begin by examining the black wire that feeds the +16v to the convergence IC's on the main board. The convergence circuit is the most thermal circuit in that unit. Next check for any jumpers and other component joints that appear to be ring cracked. Even the convergence amps themselves. Then check for open fuses after you've made a good inspection. Check for fuses: F850 & F851 5amp, F470 2amp, and F890 3.15amp and one of these are likely open. But if you replace them without correcting the problem that cause them to open it will simply happen again.. Good Luck Bill

TV auto shut off-power indicator light blinking-won't turn back on

You could have gotten an electrical surge that put your set into a shutdown condition and unplugging the set and letting the Microprocessor reset will fix this problem if it dosent blow out the main power regulator as you still or might I say have a regulator IC problem. IF THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS AGAIN MORE THEN A FEW TIMES WITHIN A SMALL TIME FRAME I WOULD HAVE THE SET LOOKED AT BEFORE THE REGULAOR BLOWS SOMETHING OUT!!!!
