I love cooking with cous cous. It's so versatile and you can either use it for a light salad or as a base with heavier meat dishes etc.

Take a look at this website that lists a top ten for cous cous dishes.

I want to give carrot cake a try, can anyone recommend a recipe that they have actually used themselves?

I use the carrot cake recipe on the BBC website and my family love it. Grating the carrots is a bit of a pain if you don't have a processor but it's worth it in the end.

What is cous cous? I have seen it mentioned in so many recipes and still am not confident about it.

Cous cous is a dish made from tiny granules of durum wheat. The granules are steamed to give a really light and fluffy dish. It's traditionally a north African dish that is served with meat and vegetables, but has now become part of middle eastern cuisines and in fact is found on menus in Europe and all over the world.

Can anyone recommend a good recipe for an Irish coffee?

Traditional Irish coffee's are made using hot coffee, Irish whiskey and sugar topped with heavy cream; however over the years many people have made slight additions/changes to this recipe. I prefer to use brown sugar in my Irish coffee.

Here is an instructional video that will teach you how to make a perfect Irish coffee -

Can anyone recommend a good beer batter?

I use a recipe I found a while ago on allrecipes.com. My whole family really likes it and it is quite easy to make. Enjoy!

I just purchased my bread machine and was excited to use it so i tried to bake whole wheat bread... i followed all the instructions and exact ingredients but my bread turned out undone... the top was not...

Don't get discouraged. Most new users of bread machines make some mistakes in the beginning.
Some things to remember: Don't lift the lid and peak inside... you'll let heat out especially during baking....recommend rapid rise yeast not active dry....I use half the salt recipes call for especially with whole wheat. Recommend you try some recipes first with unbleached bread flour, basic white bread recipes so you'll get a good rise and get your confidence up and then try whole wheat.
Maybe some of these tips will help ....
