Re: how do i clean my fabric softner dispenser on my...
You could have a clog in the housing underneath the dispenser where the water flows through a hose into the tub. Pull the dispenser drawer completely out. There is a tab that needs to be depressed to release the drawer and remove it. Check the opening at the bottom of the housing just inside the dispenser housing opening to see if a small sock or garment is clogging this opening. Reach down into this opening to see if an item is inside the hose. This is the normal issue that will cause water to leak out of the dispenser housing.
Wash the dispenser drawer thoroughly with warm water. Make sure that you pull off the siphon covers and wash all siphon holes. This process is described in your owner's manual. Replace the dispenser drawer and try the washer again.

I would use Dishwashing detergent and hot water, (not dishwashing Soap - different). The detergent is low sudsing and will help remove the softener, but it must have Hot Water to work. For the future you will need to dilute the fabric softener with water to prevent it from building up.
you can try putting a dishwashing tablet in it with some hot water and let it sit overnight ...the tablet has something in it made to desolve build up for water ,soap,ect...and it safe to the washer and to you too.I used one in my water drain on a water in the door ice box worked like a charm.
Try removing the dispenser cup - and washing the inner cup thoroughly- run a sanitary cycle with whites and chlorine bleach mold and mildew likes to haunt these front loaders - be sure to run a bleach hot water cycle once weekly
I've had this same problem and solved it by removing the detergent/bleach/softener dispenser drawer from the machine and seriously cleaning out all of the "gunk" from the drawer and from inside the drawer area on washer. Sometimes I have had to repeat the cleaning and then the fabric softener begins dispensing again. I have model # 417.43042200 but it may work on all the Kenmore front loading washers.
Okay...the cone actually goes inside the the two other pieces you mention. The cone is to be inserted upside-down. That is, the opening of the cone should be facing UP. The way this fabric softener dispenser is supposed to work is, you place fabric softener thorugh the opening of the dispenser. The cone actually holds it like a cup. When the washer goes through the initial spin cycle before the rinse cycle begins, the centrifugal force of the washer spinning forces the fabric softener out of the cone and into the wash tub.
The dispenser assembly should just snap right on top of the agitator. If the dispenser does not stay on securely any longer, you may have to replace it with a new one. You can find replacements at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in the same model number you provided and look for item number 1 under the "Motor, Basket and Tub Parts" heading.

PS It is also a good idea to periodically remove the dispenser and soak it in some hot water to get rid of accumulations of hardened softner. They will clog from time to time.
