When a plane
ascends and descends, it affects the pressure in your ears and this can make
them feel blocked and sometimes very painful. You should try yawning and
swallowing. Some people find that chewing gum is really helpful to use when the
plane is taking off or landing. If you have
a cold or cough, you should take a decongestant before you fly to try and
minimize the discomfort.
Ear
infections are very common in kids and are very painful. So if you think your
child has an ear infection or if they seem unwell and have been unusually
miserable, crying etc for a while, you should get a check up with your doctor.
Aside from
regular symptoms of just not feeling well - ear infections can cause a
temperature, intense ear and head pain and sometimes kids touch and pull on
their ears which is usually a good indication of the problem.
